What, 6 months from op? Really? That's pretty optimistic, here's hoping. I was told 6-9 months from boot removal! Surgeon said in a letter it will be better in the main by the autumn, that's actually 12 months from op, sad eh.

Maybe the groin issue is linked to your new walking position & just needs time? I think taking some simple anti inflammatory meds when you hit one of these patches might help still. Can you go back to the physio for guidance? I'm with you about needing not to sit for too long, it's up to an hour...

    Ankle Ankle surgery 12/21/2023

I was told that for three years, eventually they saw I was having to pad my ankle to wear boots. They took out the plate & pins in my fibula, that was less then half an hour's work. Don't do the other screw as it's unlikely to be an issue. It took me a couple of weeks to heal, it was no big...

Sorry to hear this. Are you still taking painkillers Lynda? It's a bit up & down for me as well, I could do without the swelling frankly but it's obviously a frustratingly long haul!

Excellent news, time to get in with your life. It's amazing what a bit of time and support will let you achieve. Be careful on the stairs for a while yet, just in case! Will they take that plate & pins out in future? They had to remove mine as the bottom pins rubbed my walking boots.

Ankle Help !!! I need to make a decision

Can I suggest you write down what's going through your mind as a list & look at it objectively at if your were advising a good friend. I'm not sure this is the right decision personally, consider delay your recovery to winter not surgery. Your surgery might be better in the late autumn at the...

Ankle Talonavicular joint fusion scheduled Nov 23

Did your physio tell you that you have to get to the stage that you can do these with your eyes shut? I am getting resluts from these exercises but the eyes shut version has me hanging on to the wall! I've gone back to my volunteering this week so thats progress.

Ankle Talonavicular joint fusion scheduled Nov 23

One of my exercises is basically rocking between feet, practicing walking correctly as well. Something I've not done properly in some while so it needs learning, sounds silly doesn't it but it's quite hard actually

So you can book aqua on your own now? It's a lot cheaper that way and I did find the exercises with the flippers helpful personally, but that was for my knee.

'He said he wasn’t bothered what the physio thought; he wanted to know how I felt it was going and how I was getting on! ' That's hilarious - I like your man. He's right, of course. It only matters how you feel at the end of the day. Perhaps you need to be honest about everything if asked, it's...

Ankle Talonavicular joint fusion scheduled Nov 23

Sorry If I wasn't clear - walking evenly with the stick is essential until my balance is properly restored, and I can walk without a wobble. So walking without is fine indoors or for short bursts as that's doable - further afield I'm told to take a stick even if it's not doing much so I can use...

Ankle Talonavicular joint fusion scheduled Nov 23

I finally managed to see my physio a few days back, interesting. My 20 month old knee replacement in the opposite leg is acting up badly and I asked why. After all I'm able to cycle locally & walk regularly if no more than a mile at a go because the foot stops working properly. Seems we really...

That's interesting, you don't have a follow up booked or was that call it? Did you original day you were part of a study programme? It's around 2 months since you've been removed from cast now? He's expecting that you still have pain & swelling to manage & interested in how that's going? You've...

    Ankle mbbs headed for TAR

I'm sure you are glad that you are on the other side and on the way to getting your life back, its a big step - congratulations. You don't have to be on one foot, I wasn't and I was 10 weeks non weight bearing. If you fancy trying out or borrowing my knee crutch I'm no longer using it [yipee!]...

Not sure I said bio oil acted as sun lotion did I? If so that's not what I meant

If you have this issue scars can often be made considerably less visible if massaged with bio oil regularly

Possibly you were given high expectations of a quick recovery, it's frustrating when that doesn't happen but it's very normal I'm afraid. Please take it more slowly as you may possibly be hurting yourself, and even setting your recovery back by overdoing it. If you are limping that means you...

Does he knows about the aquaphysio? He's clearly leaving you to your devices to sort yourself out. You must have come on well since you were struggling a month or so back, these repairs normally take a while to settle, so that's excellent. How is your strength & balance? My first physio next...

Spine C-Spine 4-7 fusion help me please

You sound panicky could this be contributing? I'm going to suggest something entirely off the wall to help you control your symptoms. Have you tried hypnotherapy? It can't do any harm & maybe you need control off a different form right now.
