I haven't been on this forum since April 2019. I was dealing with a lot of anxiety at the time. The update is that my knee RTKR 11/28/2018, is much much better and the anxiety is no longer an issue. Thanks to everyone who supported me through it. Just a note to those who suffer from panic post...

@Larryhg3 Thank you so much for your kind post. I know I seek reassurance more often than some or even.most, it's my anxiety. Sounds like your recovery is going well. This surgery really threw me, I became more depressed than I have ever been in my life, it was awful. I am trying very very...

Ok so I'm going to to ask everyone, how long before that tightness and inflammation in knee subsided? I need to be able to look forward to that, it is driving me crazy. Feels so disabling.

@schpooko Sounds like you are doing well, I found bonesmart at about 5 weeks post OP, at which time I quit PT. I found a functional PT who only did massage, e-stim and helped assess where I was at each week. The tightness is a little maddening right now, I really hope it leaves soon . It...

I so want to go for a nice long walk in the sun but knee is exhausted after walking all day in work. Almost 5 mos PO, thought I'd be further along by now. I have the energy but knee not cooperative yet. I have to remember that I was not in good shape going into this surgery, my knee would often...

PKR PKR Success - 1 yr out.

@NavyGunns Thanks for posting those pics. I've always wanted to do that trip, who knows, I might yet. Oh that traffic is awful, I agree. So glad you were able to get away and enjoy a normal vacation. I have a friend who had a TKR , he is 8 years out and he and his wife are world travelers...

@NavyGunns Hello there. Actually the pain I get is on the right side of the knee cap. If I remember correctly I think the IT band runs along the right side of the knee and hooks under the kneecap...so maybe??

@kneeper What type of exercises did you do at 4 mos. I got some great suggestions from Pumpkin, just wondering what people do for gentle exercise at this point.

@pumpkin I can go upstairs foot over foot without a problem but coming down is another story. I can not yet put all my weight on that bent knee without pain through my knee. I also noticed that my lower leg is a little more numb when compared to the non surgical lower leg. I'm wondering if...

@pumpkin Thank you for providing these exercises. They seem gentle enough. I remember doing that towel roll in PT early on before I quit PT! Thanks again. Dale

@Jockette Thanks. I get stiff after walking and especially standing. I find riding the stationary bike loosens it up a little. I am still.icing at least 3 hours a day. The stiffness is getting annoying to say the least, it's hard to plan activity in work . I ice before I leave for work because...

@Jockette I believe you are correct. I plan to focus on the positive and forgo the recommended therapy. There are other ways to tackle anxiety. I am tired of always thinking the worst. I know there is validity in exposure therapy, but not this type for me, not right now. My new strategy is...

@Celle When do people start doing strengthening exercises other than walking? I have followed all the recommendations as offered by Josephine. I am 4 mos out, have returned to work, but my quad and calf feels weak and in need of strengthening. Is there a recommendation for increasing...

@rustic You are right, and my heart goes out to anyone who has struggled here. In my case, the struggles are mental. My fears were triggered and I have an anxiety disorder, so that's been difficult. I think had I been more prepared for the recovery part of this surgery I would have fared better...

@gia2cats I'm finding work to be exhausting. I am doing the best I can, however because the old anxiety symptoms have flared up, its especially difficult. Now its health anxiety, worrying about my recovery. I am seeing a therapist who wants me to write out the worst case scenarios that could...

@JDinCT Thanks JD. Yes, it is a long recovery and I was not prepared for it to be so long. I questioned my OS about why I was not prepared and he said be ause some people have quicker recoveries than others, etc. I wasn't happy with that answer but not much to do about it now. I am sore from...
