THR Finally On The Recovery Side

Hi Mersada..... remember me? We first communicated on this forum back in 2018 ! I had my hip surgeries and you had put off having yours at the time. When I pass your apartment complex, I often wonder if you had your surgery. I happened to log onto the site today because I just recommended it...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

Hi @Layla and @Mojo333 ..... I know I haven't been checking in much, but I am always appreciative to this site and to you for always being so helpful and supportive. When I last wrote, I was telling you about my RLS....Not sure if I had mentioned previously, that my mom had RL and now my...

    THR SuperPath and Hip Dysplasia

. I may have to pass on the pt because if I can't pick them up I can't seclude them....and I probably won't be able to bend over to pick them up. Well, they say we don't need pt anyway, right. @Mersada ...... you posted this on another thread and I wanted to tell you that you should at least...

    Total hip replacement April 3

Hi @beachlily .... I just finished my 14 days with the calf pumps. I did not have to wear the compression socks (everyone always complains so much about those, so I was happy). I am also taking .81 mg of aspirin 2x daily for 28 days. The calf pumps are not that bad and I just got used to...

Question concerning active dogs in the house after surgery

@Chappyd .... I was just about to answer you when I scrolled down and saw that Josephine just offered the exact suggestion. I found that my walker kept my Boston Terrier (who is a terror) away from me and prevented him from getting too close (mainly because he was afraid of the walker, for some...

    THR SuperPath and Hip Dysplasia

Hi @Mersada ..... you replied on my thread but I figured I would come over to yours too. From what you wrote about Dr. Macauly, it all sounds very positive and he seems to have a lot of experience too. I totally agree with Layla that you should just go ahead and make a surgery date. It will...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

@Mojo333 …. hi there. Yes, the sensation of RLS is so uncomfortable and then combined with lack of sleep can almost be unbearable. I have had it for many years, (but not like this) and it always just seemed to come and go. I would have a bad night, here and there, but it didn't last an entire...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

Thanks @Barbaraj ..... how are you feeling? It's still rather chilly here. We had a 60 degree tease for one day and then a temp drop which is maintaining 30 and 40 degree temps. Hopefully it will start warming up, because it does help make a difference in your outlook and mood. I have been...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

@Layla @mojo. Hi.... so far so good. I have some (normal) discomfort but staying ahead of it with tramadol oxy and Tylenol on schedule. Pain never seems to go away completely but is tolerable. I was able to walk to the bathroom yesterday with a walker and also got into and out of bed unaided...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

@Josephine ... Thank You for your response. From what I have learned from reading others on the forum, surgeons seemed to have their own protocols concerning treatment. I was given a nose swab before surgery (Benadine?) and was given intravenous cefazolin in OR and still getting it today.

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

@Layla @Mojo333 @Barbaraj @Mersada :thankyou:for all your well wishes. It is 1am and I am not able to sleep.:bored: Of course I'm feeling hungry and thirsty and can't do anything about either one LoL ! Surgery is scheduled for 11am, so I need to be there by 9am. We plan on leaving at 6:30...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

:wave:Hi @Barbaraj .... thanks for sharing your experience. The culture I came up positive to was also not MRSA (it was MSSA). I wasn't told to do anything prior to surgery, but I have read that, as well as some people having treatment on the day of surgery either with the nasal ointment or...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

Thank you @Mojo333 .... just to clarify, the Dr. who said "don't worry...." was a Dr. they connected me to that works in Pre-op Testing. Also, I forgot to mention that the day after this culture was taken, I came down with a cold. I was wondering if that caused my positive MSSA result?

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

Layla, mojo Hi there. Hope all is well with you. I am scheduled to have my left hip done on Tuesday, March 5th. I just got back my screen by culture for MRSA/MSSA and I was upset to see that I tested Positive for MSSA, the other culture indicated "No MRSA isolated". I did call my...

    THR Bilateral changed to Single

Hi @Mersada I'm doing ok. I went back to work on Monday. It's been really nice to be back and I enjoy seeing everyone again, especially the kids. The only drawback is that my left hip has been terrible and by the end of the day I can barely walk or go up my stairs at home. I have one more...

    THR SuperPath and Hip Dysplasia

@Mersada .... hope you’re having a great time at the concert and glad you have tomorrow off from work. Im so sorry you were denied the placard for parking. Did you request a permanent one or temporary? If you requested permanent maybe you could reapply for a temporary....it may be easier to...

    THR SuperPath and Hip Dysplasia

Hi @Mersada, I was just catching up on your thread and I know you had asked me about precautions (on my thread). I had the posterior approach. My surgeon sends out a packet explaining things to know before having surgery. There's a page on "discharge plan and instructions" and this is what it...
