Bilateral THR Double Hippy and so grateful

6 month update for me. Back to Pilates reformer, exercise classes at gym, hiking etc. Arthritic knees are being annoying but hiking poles help with that. This forum was excellent before and after my surgery. Thanks to the moderators and all others who have been so supportive.

Question for all, especially the moderators: are there any threads about scar treatment? I have some expired scar treatments (silicone) and also my PT suggested Mederma. Any opinions from your collective wisdom would be appreciated. :roseshwr:

@mannyalfa : too bad about that torn hip flexor. That must have hurt. It’s encouraging that you no sleep better. I almost stepped on a scorpion in my house last night, a shoeless, wandering insomniac without my glasses. I was praying the rosary at the time. My daughter tells me that would have...

Bilateral THR Double Hippy and so grateful

Update: well I went to Costco with my DH. I thought it wouldn’t be too hard, but I certainly overestimated my endurance. I guess baby steps are the order of the day. I love the PT. I can feel my muscles getting used to the idea that the pain has gone. I am flying to the right coast October 4...

Bilateral THR Double Hippy and so grateful

Hi. I am doing extremely well. I had hardly any pain at all. Am using my neighbors Hurrycane and driving. Had to step up to help where I could with some Grandkids when a family member in NZ got sick. To be fair, I am helping downstairs and driving and their dad is doing the rest. I am trying to...

Bilateral THR Double Hippy and so grateful

@Mojo333 I feel great and also like a lump. I am unwieldy, slow, and happy. I got home this evening and am on my own bed. I’m not having issues with pain, taking a low dose of Percocet which surprisingly doesn’t make me feel woozy. I’m walking like a duck not a pigeon. And I’m just very grateful...

Ok group I have a question for you. Many of you have posted about recliner chairs. I think for my situation it would be helpful to get one. My husband is blathering on that it is not necessary. ( He has had 2 hip replacements this year). So, recommendations please.

RECOVERY BEGINS Well it’s 7 pm. I got out of surgery by around 11am. I’ve been up. Not exactly walking but a sideways shuffle covering an amazing 5 feet or so. Morphine in the spinal and a tramadol = currently no pain. I know “pain cometh” and I’ve found the posts of the moderators most helpful...

    20 Days Out....A Few Questions

@hoosier78 try celecoxcib and maybe try to just move less? That’s what I’m doing. I have just over a week to go and I’m reduced from an avid hiker to a person who doesn’t really like to walk much right now. Talk to your doctor about options. She/ he will be the best to advise you. And, all the...

Bilateral THR Swimming and PT after THR in first 3 months

@Storygirl-mini posterior for me too. I’m really looking forward to the procedure. I’m hoping that once fully recovered I can get back to hiking etc. I think the Camino Santiago de Compostela is still in my future God-willing. I also know that we all have to take each day as it comes and be...
