    Ankle mbbs headed for TAR

Hi @mbbs - good to hear you've made a decision and got a date for TAR. Can I ask if you're going privately? NHS waiting list here in Scotland is over 12 months and getting longer! Meantime, enjoy the holidays. :plugging-in-xmas-tree-smiley-emoticon:

    Ankle My Ankle Story

Hi Annie, that sounds interesting. My ankle isn't locked (yet) - I can move the foot up and down within limits and do partial rotation but weight bearing and walking are difficult. I'm in Scotland. Cheers!

Ankle Dingo dad in recovery from TAR

Hi @dingo dad Sorry I'm unable to answer your questions but it's no wonder your head is spinning with all you have gone through and all the varying information you have been given. Great that you have found a second opinion doc that gives you some confidence. Best wishes for your onward recovery.

THR THR - One year on

Sorry about the cold - seems there's lots of colds / flu / Covid about at the moment. Good your hip is doing well :yay: Agree with your advice to hubby but if anything like mine it will go in one ear and out the other!

    THR JamesUK's recovery

Hi @JamesUK It does sound as if you are doing very well with your recovery. I've just checked my notes and I was swimming (slowly and gently) after 4wks with my first hip replacement. Your scar looks good and that is the main issue for pools apart from excessive hip rotation with some...

THR Wide Awake - Mailman Chases Dogs Away

Hi @Mailman Your video looks so good especially for just a few weeks out from THR and in comparison to your pre-op condition - well done you and your surgeon. I can definitely relate to the standing up straight after surgery and to the arm swinging thing - walking poles helped with the...

    THR JamesUK's recovery

Hi @JamesUK - welcome to BoneSmart - here you will find stories of real experiences. I'm UK too, double hippie now, one NHS & one private but both by the same surgeon with posterior-lateral approach. I was aware of a few miracle stories pre-op but luckily didn't watch any YouTube stuff. Post-op...

    THR Lily's recovery

This was one of the main benefits for me - being able to stand up straight and able to straighten and stretch my legs out after the hip replacements.
