Howdy Friends! I'm done! Got here at 7:05, in the anesthesia room at 8:20 (femoral nerve blocks), in the OR at 9:05....remember absolutely nothing until 11:45 in recovery. First words out of my mouth were "omg that hurts". Nurse came running with another dose...maxed out that med and tried...

Can you lose ROM over time?

I've heard multiple times about someone loosing their ROM years and years after their knee replacements. It was suggest that scar tissue continues to build up and you have to keep working it away. Several suggested doing the PT exercises for life and to keep going back to PT multiple times a...

    metal allergy testing

I'm reading more and more on allergy testing for metal and bone cement allergies. I have a bilateral TKR scheduled for October 15. This has never been mentioned to me; is this something I should ask about or insist upon? I have no allergies and have never had any issues with jewelry.

    Needing a breather....

I've been on FaceBook too long...on TKR groups. Uggghhhh, I'm taking a break. I'm so sick of reading the PT horror stories and all the forceful do gooders telling everyone to "do your exercises" "follow your PT's advice to the T" etc.... This is my most pressing issue about this surgery, PT...

    Ice Machines vs Ice/gel Packs

I am stuck reading reviews. Ice machines vs ice/gel packs? Which did you prefer and which brand of ice machine did you have? I thought there was a post about this, but I can't seem to find it.

What do I need -- must haves

I'm gathering up things for my bilateral on October 15. My OS gave me a list of things to get from a medical supply or physical therapy place of my choice. He says most insurances pay for these and wants me to bring them to the hospital with me. 3-in-1 bedside commode; cyro compression...

    Need Dental Clearance

OK, this is a new one and surprised me. Out of everything I've read and everyone I've talked to not a single person mentioned having to have a dental clearance. I guess this concerns me because I haven't been to a dentist since 1984! Oh please don't let this change my surgery....I just...

    Still looking for Surgeon

The Ortho Center I have been going to for the past three years for all the cortisone and gel injections has refused to do my knee replacements due to my weight (BMI of 48ish). I was given prescriptions for Celebrex and Voltaren Gel. Another round of cortisone injections were offered, which I...

    Herniated disk and TKR

Has anyone with a herniated disk gone through TKR? I'm looking for some advice on what to expect. Mine is at L4-L5 and has been acting up with all this limping. I'm terrified of the physical therapy after TKR. The Ortho group hasn't been very helpful with information or suggestions other...

Increased pain/swelling after 1st euflexxa injection

I had the first of three bilateral euflexxa injections 7 days ago...the shots were painless. But since the injections the pain has been getting worse. I can barely walk and getting through my shift at work is excruciating. My knee, calf, ankles and feet are swollen to the point I can barely...
