    Hinged Joint 8 month regression^

@Tanya76, I am so impressed with your attitude and commitment. I have so much I could say to you in relation to the advise you get here at Bonesmart and my own stupid decisions concerning my stuck range of motion and the advise I took regardless of all the good information on this site. I will...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

@AgilityDog , if you decide that the wooden ones are too heavy, there are many opportunities to buy the metal ones online. Besides being lighter and more durable, the advantage with the metal poles is that they are adjustable to your height and reach, and collapsible for taking less room when...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

I can only speak to my experience. I have and use two poles made out of a metal of some kind. I find I am most comfortable using the two at once. It feels more balanced for me. The metal points are important for traction when you are not on pavement or are indoors. But the rubber tips are...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

It has been a week since I had my MUA. Thank you, @pdx for reminding me to get back on here and give an update. It has been a journey and I am really quite ready for this to all come to completion. I know, I know... be patient, Grasshopper. :bored: One aspect of an MUA I underestimated was...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

@AgilityDog , I did use and still do use my hiking poles. Of all the tools I've used to ensure stability while walking, I get the most natural gait when using my poles. I've used them for many years before my TKR when backpacking. They are like extensions to my arms now.

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

Thank you for your good wishes. I am feeling optimistic. @jboles, I see that you are about to have your second knee done in two days! All the very best to you! Right now I can't imagine going through this again. On the other hand, I know the left will need the same down the road. I hope...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

7 weeks now. 7 weeks with no change in my ROM what-so-ever. Unless you count going backwards. I have had no success with all my resting, icing, elevating, gentle PT, other than being well rested and relaxed (which does count for a lot)... But now I will follow the advice of my OS and I will...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

Well, I wonder what to think/do now? I have one concern and one question that I know you Bonesmart folks can give me sage wisdom about. First the question. How can I find the post that tells of the range of motion "milestones" for those who have recovered ROM very late? I've read it a couple...

TKR Swollen 9 months post op<

I am envious you your time with your family over Christmas, @cannygirl. At 4wks post-op, I didn't have the courage, and even though they were willing to come here (and stay here), I didn't have them. I cried feeling sore and sorry for myself, too. But you got hugs and warm holiday greetings...

Thank you @Celle and @kneeper foor your words of encouragementbans reassurace. I will relax and soak up the love and spitit of the season. I have so much to be grateful for, like an incredible husband who actually gets pleasure out of picking up the slack around here! and for Bonesmart support...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

Okay, I will be 4 weeks post op on Christmas day. I would love to get my ROMo (cute, huh?) back for Christmas, please. It hasn't changed in weeks. Still less than 60 degrees! I've just had a stationary bike donated to me, but it is an old fly-wheel type. Is that going to be okay for me? I...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

The past few days have been a roller coaster of good times :bored:. I fell deeply into the the pit of despair. I had one of those sobby-sad-miserable-pity-party days a couple of days ago. Woke up under a cloud, fell asleep under the cloud, woke up the next morning feeling my normal...

    TKR Slow and Steady Recovery

I use my ice machine all the time, day and night, whenever I am in bed. The frozen water bottles work really well as long as you don't accidentally get them too tall. My first batch were. I have a pouch on my walker that is big enough to carry the bottles back and forth to and from the...

    What am I missing ???

Good for you, @Pookims! There is no such thing as over-planning for this event! You can certainly under-plan. You are going to do well! One thing I arranged that is making my life immensely easier is the rental of a hospital bed. Adjustable height, rising foot and head. I know it's...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

Oh, one other event to add interest to my recovery. It is about 25 degrees outside and we are going on day two of no heat inside. Our furnace has gone kaput. Icing is counter productive in the cold. I have a tiny space heater and a massive pile of blankets, but then wrapping my knee in an...

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

How many of you have had an experience like this? Yesterday I had my staples removed (15 days post op). The whole thing was nearly pain free, but not event free. When the nurse gently tugged out one staple, a tiny, little fountain of bright red blood shot about three inches into the air. It...

    TKR Lioness56 in recovery^

@Lioness56, we are the same age and had our surgery the same day! I wonder what else we have in common. I experienced the issues with sleeping before my surgery, but not after, partially due to the pain killers, I'm sure. But also the fact that I rented a hospital bed. It is so comfortable...

    Knee replacement 12/28

@missyfit13, if your insurance will cover another night, I think they should let you. It might require th OS to sign off on it, but if you want it, insist on it. Several years aho I had another very significant knee sugery, a TTT. After two days they wanted to discharge me. I didn't feel...

    TKR TKR 2 at 4 months<

I am so happy for you, @Angiebabe ! I am less than two weeks after my first, so wouldn'd presume to advise. But I'll pay attention to your recovery and celebrate your tremendous victories! You obviously know how this goes. I wish you continued success and speedy recovery.

TKR And the Beat Goes On in Jazzabelle's Recovery

Thank you, @jakeleg. I am almost always upbeat and optimistic. It has served me well in my life - opens doors, keeps me grounded. So when I'm not, it's alarming to me and everyone around me. This has been a mighty rough ride! I am so grateful for Bonesmart. I have learned so much here...
