THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Day 97 on the new right hip and Day 45 on the new left hip. Bought the new bike today and can't wait to ride tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for the advice and encouragement but time for me to fly the coup. I'll check in next summer! ............ "and they said it couldn't be done"!

THR Losing sleep over my husbands surgery

Sounds like your husband is on track. I am 54, had a right hip replacement on June 8, went back to work on July 24, then had the left hip replaced on July 31 and went back to work last week. I have an IT job and the hardest part is all the sitting. I try to get up every hour to walk for 5...

THR Left 2013 - Now the right

Doug - congrats on getting back on the new bike. I saw you mention the HH100 in some of your posts. Are you planning on riding it in 2018?

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Another milestone of sorts. I finally went out and trimmed up our Yaupon Holly bush in the front yard last night - my facebook post was "Hips 2, Bush 0". Trimming this tree has always been a tricky process even before the hip surgeries as I have to balance on the top of the ladder to reach...

    THR my new hips

@Gone again - Good morning. I was reading some of your posts the other day on the 'pre-op' forum. Were you able to host your 4th of July picnic this summer? It's amazing and has been encouraging to me to read the comments over there, then watch how we all have progressed and healed up this...

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Looks like my 'Life of Riley' is ending. I will return to work next Monday, Aug 28. My total recovery for the new left hip has just been 4 weeks as of next Monday. My OS recommended two weeks part time which my 'Short Term Disability' claim approved and will offset with any missing hours...

THR Zauberflote #2 on other side!!

@zauberflöte - Morning - as I'm progressing with the recovery I'm not checking bonesmart as much as I used to. But before I forget I wanted to let you know I appreciate your posts, humor and encouragement. They've been a big help to me and I'm sure alot of other folks on the 'hipster' journey!

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

@Jaycey and @Josephine - I have a Tylenol question. If my pain level is less than a 2 then am I receiving any benefit by taking 2 Tylenol's? For the past week I average 2000 mg of Tylenol per day. My main complaint is stiffness in the thigh / incision area, but no real dull or throbbing...

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Day 15 - I had my first post-op check up with the doc this morning. Everything looked very good. I have the green light to do almost anything I want to as long as it doesn't hurt. The doc said to go slow and easy at first but also said these new hips were made to be put to use. Next...

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Hi @Josephine, thank you for the links you sent me. I've been averaging 2000 mg of Tylenol a day for the last 8 days. I am on day 13 of recovery for the new Left Hip surgery. The doctor has me taking Tylenol as needed for the first 28 days. I haven't had any ibuprofen yet. I'll wait until...

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

@Jaycey - thank you for your message. I was very worried last night and early this morning I had done some damage but things are much better today. I did take an oxycodone this morning which took alot of the edge off. Other than being 'scolded' by my wife I think things are OK.

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Day 13 - Lucky Day 13 - I was in high cotton till last night. I went into the garage yesterday evening to turn off the lawn sprinklers and nearly tripped hard on a pole. I torqued the living '****' out of my new left hip. I feel like I am back on day 2 at the moment. I can put weight on...

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

So days 10-11 were a little more sore. I have cut off THR oxy. My concern was oxy is masking pain and I may have been over doing the recovery walks and pt exercises some. Tylenol is ok but I am counting the days till I can take an ibuprofen tablet assuming I even need one. I went to the...

THR Zauberflote #2 on other side!!

Good Morning @zauberflöte! I didn't realize you just had the second hip replacement on July 27. For whatever reason I thought your THR was several months ago. Your about the same point in recovery I am. From all the post it sounds like all is going well for you in the recovery. What...

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Day 9 on new left hip. Nothing really new to report which I consider good news. I changed my avatar picture this morning. It is with my walking stick which I'm using to some extent. When I got the all clear to drive on my right side, I'd drive to a parking spot, then for the first few...

    THR Making six weeks

I'm a few weeks ahead of you on my June 8 RTHR with anterior approach. Until just the past few days I felt a burning sensation on the scar area whenever I stood up. My PT person said to push down along the scar area top to bottom a few times a day - so I don't know if that is what helped or...

Milestone may have been a strong word - we had a cool front come thru last night so I took a small stroll on our street. It just felt nice to be outside! I wish 100 burpees - it was probably the weighted burpees in 2015 which started this '$*%&%@*/' for my hips in the first place.

THR Officially a Hippie - LTHR on July 31

Happy Hip Day to me! 60 days now officially on the right and almost 7 days to the minute on the left. I just completed what I call a 'milestone' walk a few minutes ago. The biggest difference I have noticed so far for hip recovery is during the first few weeks I worried too much for the new...

    THR Seven year anniversary

Congratulations - I hope to have a post just like your down the road. I'm close to 60 days on the right side and 6 days on the left and 'knock on wood' - so far so good for me! Keep up the good work!!!
