@mandasmom great update, thanks! Sounds like you're progressing well. Interested to hear about the timing of the meds. I'm on hydromorphone twice per day and have break through milligrams to take around that if needed. I've also noticed the numb sensation radius around the incision is shrinking...
You should stick with your doctor's recommendation. Mine gave me the option of either posterior or anterior and I asked him if it was up to him, what we he do. He said anterior and that's what i went with. They are the experts! I'm day 4 post op. Resting icing elevating as I type!
Hello all! Just wanted to post I had my surgery on Monday, and returned home Wednesday.
I'm 46 and surgeon said my hip was in really bad shape with a lot of bone spurs so it took a bit longer but everything went well. I had a general anaesthetic which was determined by the surgeon and...
Just a huge thank you to those of you who have replied. Reading your comments has definitely helped easing my mind. I really appreciate it.
@confused newb I'm having it done in Hamilton though I'm from the Niagara area. It will be the anterior approach. I've enjoyed reading and keeping tabs on...
Hi everyone, I sure enjoy reading all of the info on this site. Comments are informative and so supportive. My nerves are sure setting in as I received my mail package from the surgeon with all of the "pre-work", including blood test order, iron prescription, upcoming appointment dates and...
I would say they both have positives and negatives. Everyone recovers differently. My focus would be specifically on the experience and recommendation of the surgeon, not on the method itself. I myself am having the anterior approach, and my surgeon performs both. Positive vibes to you tomorrow!
I think my nerves are starting to set in. I just got my pre-op package in the mail today with dates for the class, appt with anaesthesiologist, instructions on taking iron etc. It just got very real. I will be anxious to hear how you all make out with everything as I don't go in until The 26th...
Hi everyone, counting down my days to my anterior left hip replacement surgery in Ontario - 10 weeks tomorrow taking me to June 26th. Really noticing the deterioration over the last month with respect to sleeping at night in an effort to get comfortable. The last few days I've had what almost...
@mandasmom so glad to hear we are relatively in the same boat! Are you exercising/strengthening leading up to your surgery and what do you currently do for pain management? Happy Friday!
Well I guess I'm the first to post June 26th is my date. Left hip, anterior method. Surgery being done in Ontario, Canada. Nervous for sure, always wonder if I will be worse off than I am now with any complications that might arise. But, I'm tired of not enjoying life to the fullest as a "young"...
Hi everyone, curious to hear your thoughts on both of these drugs and which one worked/works better for you. I've got a surgery date this summer and need to manage my pain better from now until then. Tylenol arthritis does nothing. A one-time shot of 800 mg of Advil works great for the day but...
