You'll do great. Tomorrow will be kind of a whirlwind. You'll get to the hospital they'll get you prepped and the next thing you know you are in the recovery room. Stay relaxed because you probably won't have any feeling in your legs and they will want you to wiggle your toes before you leave...
The swelling should gradually go away. Las month we took a trip to Oregon and walked up and down fairly steep trails in the mountains and in the sand on beaches. Last week just came back from Las Vegas and my wife's fit bit was showing we walked about 7 miles a day. No swelling. Your knee...
The pain I had around my knee was from the tendons healing. The inside of the knee bothered me the most. The tendons are detached from around your knee and must heal. Should gradually diminish over time. Sometimes I would think completely gone and then would start hurting again while walking on...
I kind of thought the same thing about leg length but after more time and a lot of walking I don't notice any difference. I think it is because my right leg is straighter and my muscles on in my left leg, hip, and backside area needed some time to adjust.
Sounds like you are doing well! Be careful not to overdo your exercises. You also need to work on reducing your swelling which will help you increase your ROM. Make sure when you go from one crutch and then to none that your walking gait is correct. If you swell more after your exercises cut...
Using the spinal works well. Keeps the pain at a very low level for several hours. I hear that some people remember a little during surgery but 99.9% have no memory of the surgery. When you are in recovery it takes awhile until you can move your toes (for me that's how they determined when I...
Your OS and people on here with more expertise than me will probably be able to answer your question best. I would also get the same "ice pick" type pain and then other times not so bad. Steadily the pain became worse and I couldn't sleep at night without waking up several times a night with...
I used ice bags one on the front and one on the back and moved them around on my knee useing a towel wrap to hold them in place. Worked great for me. Used the gel packs a little but they didn't stay cold very long.
Good luck! Don't over do it when they get you up for that first walk. I wasn't feeling any pain and walked with crutches and walked way to far. Paid the price later with extra swelling.
I had the pain on the inside of knee and it gradually went away. I think this is where the tendon attaches to the knee and was peeled off during surgery. It is inflamed but will get better. Sometimes I would think the pain was completely gone and then would seem to reappear. Hang in there things...
Your knee problems have mirrored mine. I tore mine in high school and have wished since that I had left them alone back in the early 70's. I also bicycle a lot but not as much as you. I'm sure the biking kept my legs strong and helped avoid TKR much earlier. Now 9 months post op and all is going...
Find out if they use staples or glue. How long until you can shower. What the plan is for checking back with your OS after surgery. What their plan is for pain meds after surgery and when you go home and if you can call with your concerns after you are home especially if you need to adjust your...
I have a question. May recovery from TKR has went really well from beginning until now. My question concerns pain above my knee when I put pressure on the knee going down stairs and some pain when getting up out of a chair. I assume this is tendonitis but not sure if time or some type of...
A few days or a couple of months more isn't going to make much difference to your worn out knee joint. The pain you have to put up with until your probable TKR happens will not be that much fun. Sometimes the joint pain has some relief for awhile and then the pain may pick back up again. Here's...
If you are otherwise are in good health don't let this hold you back. I had a catheter until the next morning after surgery. At night I used a walker for the first couple of weeks when I was half awake. I just felt safer at night even though during the day was using one crutch and then not using...
Your knee being warm to the touch is normal. When I went to my 6 week check by my OS he put his hands on my knee and said it was warm not hot just as it should be. This is your knee area heeling. My knee is still a little warmer than unoperated knee. Good luck and happy healing!
