    TKR Preventing Future Infections

Hi. I haven't posted in awhile. I am 18 months post op on my right TKR. I had left TKR in 2014. My question is, is it possible to wear out the joints sooner with excessive walking ? Everyone I know recommends walking but does too much still war out the joint sooner ? Too me it makes sense that...

    TKR Preventing Future Infections

Thanks for the feedback. I understand basic hygiene is called for with any cuts regardless of person. Reading between the lines , does Bonesmart and people on here feel in general this is a non-issue ?

    TKR Preventing Future Infections

I have also been told about antibiotics not being necessary before dental visits. At the moment I was more curious about cuts, scrapes and actually ruptured pimps anywhere but more specifically on the legs. I had a PT tell me I had to be cautious of these the rest of my life and I wondered what...

    TKR Preventing Future Infections

Hi everyone. I am about 7 months post RTKR. Knock on wood things seem to be going pretty good. I was wondering about risks of prothesis infection from cuts, scrapes and popped pimples on legs for one's lifetime ? Hope I do not sound ridiculous. I am so sorry for those dealing with...

    TKR It was worth it!

Mangiamom the physical pain after a TKR can be hell. But the mental part of it can be just as bad or worse. A lot of good advice on here. I believe a coping mechanism is telling yourself a few months down the road this will all be is the past. I know thinking long-term is hard when the current...

TKR Newbie - Right TKR on 11/13/2020

My feeling is the U.S. is much less progressive when it comes to this. My PTs (physios) were much more militant about therapy. I even had one bring up (threaten?) a future MUA at three days post op ! I thing we are behind the times.

TKR Newbie - Right TKR on 11/13/2020

Question about different approaches for longtime Bonesmart people. Does it seem like the U.S. in general may have different approaches than the U.K. and other parts of the world ? Just by reading different comments it seems like that maybe the case.

Hi guys. About 6 weeks post tkr. I have gone back to work 4 hours a day, mostly a desk job but walking about a mile total for commute. By the middle of the day my knee is very swollen, somewhat pink and very stiff. I know 6 weeks is somewhat early but here I am. My question is does anyone have...

    TKR Preventing Future Infections

Hi. I was wondering at 4 weeks post op what is typical for swelling and warmth ? I know swelling will ebb and flow with activity but was not sure about the warm feeling around tkr. Nothing is inflamed red but definitely some warmer than other knee, thanks

    TKR Preventing Future Infections

Hi everyone. About 4 weeks post tkr. I was wondering not only about pain levels as time goes on but also type of pain and general location ? Looking at the recovery graph I assume that pain on average slowly gets better after 4 weeks. Does the type of pain such as deep ache become more...

    TKR Preventing Future Infections

Hi everyone. I had right TKR on august 13th. Everything seemed ok until august 16th when I spiked a high fever over 103 degrees F. I was readmitted and had numerous tests done. They did not biopsy any knee fluid because they that I would be at greater risk by doing so.. All tests came back...

TKR Worse condition of knee the longer the recovery ??

Hi. I am having my second TKR on August 13. My first one had me off work six weeks. A coworker of mine was back in three weeks (still don't think he should have been back that soon) .An orthopedic RN told my wife that typically the worse the condition of the knee before surgery the longer and...

    TKR Round 2-future exercising

Hi. I had TKR on left knee in 2014 and soon will have TKR on right knee. I just turned 60 and have need of improving my flexibility now and after upcoming TKR. My question is what are safe/recommended exercises/classes for my situation ? I have heard about yoga, tai chi, pilates and others...

    TKR Help.....recovery timeline

Also was just told by him that his doctor may have used too small of a "meniscus" during his replacement. Does this make sense to anyone ? I was assuming that each implant would have set sizes of components.

    TKR Help.....recovery timeline

Hi. I had a TKR about 4 years ago. Knock on wood everything is ok. I have to get my other knee done sometime. My first knee I was back to work after 6 weeks. My concern is that my employer may expect me back sooner with the second. This is because I have a coworker that came back after 3...

    TKR Squatting??

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while. Had TKR feb 6. Trust me. It gets better. I was wondering for those of you at this point and beyond. Are body weight squats recommended ? I am getting major conflicting advice. Supposedly they help strengthen muscles but I have read the stress put...

    TKR Squatting??

The knee hurts but seems to be slowly improving. I am getting around slowly with a walker. Backing off on meds is going ok. Have to stay on top of it. I also take meds for depression. The blues suck
