PKR Red Rider's 60k mile tune up

Hi all, I received a private message that prompted me to provide an 8 year PKR update. In short, things are well. I have occasional pain in my kneecap area but NONE in the lateral compartment where the other hardware is. Could this be an issue with the PF inlay? Is it that they didn't...

I was reading up on AMI, very interesting. Has TENS therapy helped? Very frustrating that despite all the strength training, it isn't an effective modality. Sent you an email about Whitney.

Hi there @ridgw003, welcome to the lateral PKR club! As @mcirish noted, we're an elite group. You've made it through the initiation and are now ready to learn the secret handshake :snork:. Hang in there, you're doing great!

Hey Tom! Thanks for checking in on me. You make a good point; waiting around a bit isn't going to hurt anything. It would have to get exponentially worse before I even utter the "R" word (revision). A few miles on the mtn bike this morning really helped though, its feeling a lot better. Sounds...

Hi @trailspud great to hear from you. Got any big trips planned this summer? I was in Death Valley last weekend, backpacked into an old ghost town and explored for a few days (google Panamint City). Lots of climbing and descents though, thank goodness for trekking poles.

Thanks @bill 3/20 I appreciate that. Focus on building strength, and you'll get to your goals. I occasionally trail-run with my wife. Like you, I won't be doing marathons anytime soon but it puts a big smile on my face.

PKR Red Rider's 60k mile tune up

Hey folks, it's been some time but I have questions about implant loosening. Of course I'm probably freaking myself out, but my knee has been unusually painful for the past couple weeks; more focused on my tibia and below. This worries me since horror stories of aseptic loosening always start...

Clocked nearly 30 miles on foot this weekend. At one point I sat down for a break, and when I got back up I had a sharp pain in my knee (focused around the front of the implant). No swelling, no heat. It only hurts now when I straighten my leg; no pain on bending. The pain is similar to my...

1 year, 7 month update. Knee: Continues to get stronger. Whoever said room for improvement has a finite span is wrong. I continue to see gradual improvements even at this point post-op. Activity: Still jogging, although limited to casual trail runs. Lot's of hiking, lot's of cycling. I...

Jogging... Taking a stab at it this month, focusing on the 3 "S's": Stride: re-evaluating my entire mechanics, looking for a smoother, more gliding stride. Watching a lot of Youtube videos on optimal form, especially the "100-up" technique. Surface: sticking to soft, plush trails; no concrete...

PKR Red Rider's 60k mile tune up

As my leg strength builds, I'm getting a slight pop when bending under heavy load. My OS says a tight ITL band and sure enough, it's very tender on the foam roller. What do I do here, keep rolling it until it loosens up? Any particular stretches I could try?

    TKR Trailspud Recovery thread

Mine too amigo. Just wondering @trailspud, did you change up your stride post-tkr or stick with your original gait? The reason I ask is I've been toying around with the treadmill and found myself taking a more conservative, "gliding" stride than I used to. It's a much smoother flow, not a...

Geez, my 1 year anniversary blew right by and I didn't even get a chance to do the happy dance! To celebrate the occasion, my wife and I took a huge day hike on a section of the PCT, and set a new record for myself:

Has anyone ever used a "Jacobs Ladder" before? My gym just got one and I've been hitting it hard ever since. It kicked my butt the first few weeks but is still an amazing workout. The best part is the low-impact on your knees. @trailspud you would love this.

PKR 2.5 years post op - LTKR - RPKR

Hi @tori645, I have a PF inlay and notice some irregular sounds as well. Not necessarily "chirping" like you meniton, but just the slightest grind that my OS says is scar tissue that will gradually dissipate (and it has). Granted, I didn't get the "button" on my patella like you did, so maybe...

I hear ya @trailspud, I'm looking to do some jogging but gotta get under 180 as well. You ready to dust off the snowshoes? I'm crossing my fingers for record snow in the Sierra Nevada's this winter! Sent from my iPhone using BoneSmart Forum
