Good luck for Monday, do let us know how you get on! Where did you choose to go?
( If I decide to go for a private appointment, I will go to Leeds General Infirmary and to the neurosurgeon Mr Deniz who dealt with my brain aneurysm 5 years ago!)
Well done to your dog walking nicely with your...
Hi Carol, I had my left THR just before you (31/10/2016) so I remember you well from back then! It was really good to read your update, particularly about your painful back. And of course I am living in Yorkshire too! I have just had my right THR and my anaesthetist had problems with the spinal...
Hi everyone, despite having just had my right THR, I am now on the list for yet more surgery.
For the last year or so I have been very unstable on my left TKR and it is very clunky and wobbly. I am having a lot of pain when walking and particularly at night, also permanently swollen. I saw my...
Hi everyone. I have been in and out for ages with my left TKR and left THR but I am now an August Hot shot for my right THR - 20th August 2018. Looking forward to talking to you all again.

Hello!
Yes, I had my 6 week review with my surgeon yesterday. He is very happy with it and I don't have to see him for a year. I did mention again about the hard lump on the end of the wound in my buttock but he just said "it's fine". I also mentioned about my knee which is swollen and more...
Hi @Cas. You are doing really well! Can't believe you've been walking for 3-4 hours, well done you. Yes it is a bit of a roller coaster although I am still on one of the children's rides haha. For me it is not really the hip pain, it is my knee that struggles with walking and it has already been...
Just caught up to date with your news! Well done you for waltzing across the floor with no aids :yay:. I would certainly not be able to do that, or if I did I would be on the floor. You are such a brilliant example to us all and I love reading your news.
BTW, whereabouts in Derbyshire are you...
Hi @Cas .
Just seen you are in Yorkshire, whereabouts are you? I am in West Yorkshire (Greetland) and had my left THR on 31st October so just a few days before you!
Another beautiful day today but cold. Like you I am desperate to get back to walking my dogs - I have 2 greyhounds from Tia...
Hi everyone. Saw my surgeon again this afternoon and he is pleased with the incision healing although still called it "scabby" lol. It is now less red and no longer weeping so it is definitely going in the right direction. Still have the hard lump but is not hurting as much. Back again in 2...
Saw my surgeon this afternoon. He thinks the suture is causing a small abscess at the end of the wound but the rest of the incision is dry and clean so nothing to worry about. His nurse removed the suture, cleaned the wound and has put on an intrasite dressing for 7 days then come back in a week...
Thank you Josephine! I rang and they have arranged an appointment for me with my consultant tomorrow afternoon so he can have a look at it and give antibiotics if needed. Thank you for your reassurance and to Miss Muffet for tagging you!
I will update after tomorrow
Hi @Miss Muffet , thank you for asking after me! I am doing well with my walking and leg exercises and using one crutch in the house so the actual hip joint is improving. Mr HorseyLady has become used to his life as a slave and things have been going ok, particularly now I can carry something...
Thank you everyone, it seems there are some grumpy ones out there too and Mr HorseyLady is not alone!
@Miss Muffet I have enjoyed reading your post op thread this afternoon and you are really cheering me up! Welcome back after hip number 2! Love the pictures of your grandchildren - and I love...
All is going ok with me at home and I feel that I am progressing. Sleeping ok at night on my back although the leg is very stiff in the morning and my back is painful too. Pain is controlled - Paracetamol (2) and Tramadol (1 50mg) during the day and at night I add an extra Tramadol for bed and...
I am finally back home from the hospital after 5 days! It is a Posterior THR and is doing really well but I've a few issues with blood pressure and sickness which are knocking me out. I will send more when I'm back in the land of the living but just wanted to let you all know I am on the other...
Ah yes, Nick Skelton. What a fantastic rider and definitely a hero. Unfortunately I am not fantastic and quite unbalanced now after my stroke. Does worry me about getting on and off with the hip, and even falling off and breaking all the TKR and THR bits!
Thanks for all the positive thoughts -...
Hello everyone. One day to go as I am the last October Feisty tomorrow 31st so I am getting this thread all ready for the other side. Nervous and rather stressed but the bag is all packed.
I have had a lovely walk this morning with the dogs (albeit slowly) appreciating the woods with the...
Good idea, thank you @Miss Muffet ! I will do my post op thread right now. Thanks for the tip with the plastic bag, and I've told my knee to stop whinging and be grateful :loll:
Hi everyone.
Yes, I am the last one - Monday 31st :yikes: and getting nervous! Thanks to Miss Muffet's list, I am very organised with the contents of my bag. I have been doing lots of reading, which is great, but I came across something about hips and knees and that it is better to have the hip...
