TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Thank you PDX! I have my 6 week visit with the surgeon this week. With God's good grace I will be allowed to fly north for Easter the next week. Like you mentioned, still very tired...but better each week.

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Five week update: 115 degrees of flex. Pain decreasing by the day...feeling clearer headed. Still tired by about 3:30...but getting more done. It's a long, arduous uphill climb. Just want to be better...

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Great day at PT yesterday to mark 4 weeks post op...95 degree bend...rode the recumbent bike for the first time successfully. Pain is lower today for the first time in a month. Finally feel like I might be getting better.

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Agreed...and I can assure you I have never worked this hard at anything physical. Here in the US, this is a profitable surgery. I expect that is why the pain and suffering are downplayed.

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

PG... I am very well-educated and not delusional. I attended very in-depth seminars, that I was required to attend in order to have my knee replaced. At each of these seminars they told me that I could likely return to work in two weeks. While I appreciate your frankness, it doesn't help me at...

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

I raise money for charities...about $20 million a year...and many people in need depend upon our work in their behalf. Truly, having had 3 knee surgeries already, I had no idea the pan and exhaustion that TKR brings.

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Josephine...actually, The hospital I used ran regular seminars telling people how quickly they could bounce back from surgery. In their required classes, they said that it would be no problem returning to work after about two weeks. After almost 4 weeks that seems ridiculous to me now. Also...

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Now 25 days post surgery and I still find myself riding a roller coaster. I am able to work more than I did before. Most days from about 830 in the morning until about three in the afternoon. My knee continues to be severely swollen after PT. I can go the day without much pain relief, but I...

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Well, I listened to all of your excellent advice. Stayed home, lots of ice and elevation...and was actually able to write and be somewhat productive. Knee feels like it is in a splint, but still a good day. I'm happier...thank you all and God Bless!

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Another tough day...don't know why. Slept ~7 hours, but very foggy headed, fatigued, and despite ceaseless elevation and ice, the knee remains horribly swollen. This is now 16 days post surgery... Frustrated...no sense of progress!

TKR So exhausted - is this normal?

Thanks to all of you, I have had the best day in two weeks. 7:15 pm now, and I am spent. Seems like you're suddenly done for the day, and that's it. Best of all, I feel like I have started to find my way back into control...slowly, but a bit more in control. Thank you all so much!
