[REVISION TKR] Knee revision (patellar components)

I had a CT scan prior to surgery which showed my implant loosened. My first orthopedic doctor refused to believe the CT scan and stated, “Radiologists do not know how to read a CT scan of a patient with an implant.” He totally brushed it off and said it was probably “a cyst.” I was in horrible...

[REVISION TKR] Knee revision (patellar components)

I just had left knee revision surgery on September 26. I’m three weeks postop. The doctor did not have to remove the entire implant. He left the femoral and tibial component in place. The reason I had to get a knee revision surgery is because my initial knee replacement in December 2018 failed...

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

As for me returning to work after three weeks...it’s a necessity. Financially I won’t make it. I have to return to my teaching job. I’m just thankful that our district has a “Fall Break!”

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Concerning the “lateral release,” why would a surgeon cut that? Isn’t that ligament needed to hold the knee cap in place? Wouldn’t that be a mistake to cut something that important?

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Good news and bad news Good news first—Hallelujah! After seven months of horrific knee pain I finally found out what is wrong with my knee! I just came back from seeing a new orthopedic doctor (same office as my original OS). I have one thing to say: IT PAYS TO GET A SECOND OPINION!!! This new...

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Interesting. Would a cortisone shot ease the pain? Even if it is a bursa, it still doesn’t explain the burning pain on the lateral (left outside) of my knee that has been there since January. I see a different doctor on July 17th. He works in the same office as my OS, but I’ll give him a...

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

I met with my orthopedic doctor yesterday. He states that he looked at the CT scans himself and does not believe my implant is loosening. He mentioned a possible “cyst” under my knee cap. He’s at a loss of what is going on so he’s referring me to another doctor. I suggested that I need at least...

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Wow. Thanks for telling me it’s not my fault. I’m soooo relieved to hear a revision may not be as painful. I had HORRIBLE pain the first three weeks of my TKR. I woke up from surgery in horrible pain and it continued for quite some time. I go see my OS on July 2nd. We’ll see what happens. I...

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Thank you for your encouragement. I’m just dreading the thought of another surgery. We will see what happens when I see my orthopedic doctor on July 2nd.

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Moderator, could you please change my post title from “Nerve pain during recovery” to “Loosening of implant.” I had a CAT scan on my knee, on Monday. I’m in a fair amount of pain. Extremely bad news: My knee replacement has loosened. I knew something was terribly wrong because of the pain. I’m...

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Interesting. It seems to be getting worse, that’s all I know. Would this even show up on a CT scan? I’ll mention this Hoffa’s syndrome to my doctor when I see him again, which I hope is soon.

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

I haven’t posted in a while. Here’s an update: My orthopedic doctor has determined that my lateral pain is not nerve pain. I have a CT scan on Monday, of my left knee. Maybe the scan will show something. This pain is just so excruciating when I bend my knee a certain way. It’s just been...

Really? Wow. I thought warmth meant my knee is inflamed. I just as a bit worried.

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

Thank you for your encouragement. I’m just really down right now. My left knee still feels quite warm to the touch compared to my right knee. Is this warmth normal after 5 1/2 months?

So it’S normal for it to be too painful to go down stairs? Then what is the point of getting a replacement? I couldn’t walk down steps before my replacement and now I still can’t.

Is it normal to not be able to go down stairs at five and half months?

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

I see my surgeon on June 11th. He said he won’t do anything sooner. That will be my 6 month mark. The weird thing is that the pain under my kneecap wasn’t even that bad a couple months ago. It seems to be growing worse.

    [TKR] Loosening of implant.

I’m now taking Lyrica. I take 75 mgs each night. I’m supposed to take it at night, in the morning and at lunchtime, but it makes me too drowsy. When school ends on May 22nd, I’ll try taking two does of Lyrica instead of one dose. The Lyrica is finally making a difference in my horrific nerve...

@Celle Yes it was my left knee that had the replacement.

    [TKR] ITB Snaps2's recovery thread

Yes, I have a lot of grinding on the outside of my knee. I can’t figure it out because I have no grinding on the right side of my knee. The left side of my scar — everything is extremely painful, but not on the right (inside) side of my knee. I see my family physician on Thursday and I want...
