Day 5 post op and no longer having any fun! I am extremely nauseous and lite headed most of the time. I stopped the Norco thinking that was the cause. last nite was rough to sleep, the restless leg thing was insane. Took some extra magnesium and finally some NyQuil. seems the NyQuil knocked me...

@ihavetwins, I will try the roller. My quads are a bit sore as well. This is day 4 post op and the honeymoon is definitely over. Painful nite despite pain meds. Walking with one crutch ok but can’t get much of any kind of flex. Only 50 degrees on the CPM. Taking it slow as advised by everyone...

It’s interesting they wanted you take an iron supp. I was told to take iron as well as she said it something to do with the bone remodeling? As an RN and a dietitian i have never heard of that. anyone else told to take an iron supp post op?

PKR Irongirl recovery thread right PKR medial side

Hi all, I had my PKR Right medial done yesterday about 1130 in an outpatient setting, home by 630 pm. so far so good, last nite was a continuous doze with my ice machine and compression machine. This center doesn’t bring in PT, OT or anyone else. As I said previously as soon as I can eat, drink...

As my surgery is in a stand alone outpatient surgery center I imagine they all go home at 5 and will get booted out one way or another!

@gavinmac. thanks for the well wishes. It sounds like you slept with ice on all nite then? That is what I am trying to figure out as to whether I should go to bed with my ice machine or my CPM machine?

@Jo Wo Yeah, I haven’t been told the process on that so was thinking at the minimum PT, but also saw PT pre op and wonder if my OS considers that good. will certainly let you know after tomorrow!

TKR other post op things to consider

When I had my meniscus revision, once I woke up enough to go to the bathroom I was discharged. This may be a bit different I imagine but they said I should be out of surgery by 1 pm so figured 2-3 hrs at least to recover as I had a hard time waking up last time.

TKR other post op things to consider

I am heading to surgery tomorrow at approx 1130. As this is an outpatient surgery I anticipate getting home about 4 or 5 pm. I am uncertain how to handle this first nite with regards to icing, pain meds and CPM. I plan to set up my Vpulse (ice and compression) in my recliner but do not think I...

    PKR April 29 PKR

Thanks for the update. Figured the stronger we are the better the rehab process. I had to quit training in Feb for my meniscus repair revision but was hoping I would recover in time for IM CDA in June. Wasnt going to happen and let my coach go in late March, then pursued the PKR process...

Hi BBCG, I was a runner but am also a triathlete so used to doing lots of cross training with biking, swimming, strength work and elliptical. In addition to putting my bikes on a trainer, I have an indoor Cyclops spin bike, a treadmill, an Ascent Elliptical trainer, and a seated elliptical...

TKR other post op things to consider

thanks for the replies. I am not at risk for clots that I know of. I am not on any medications of any kind accept bioidentical HRT and am a very active triathlete. But my OS protocol is 14 days of anticoagulant therapy (shots in then stomach) OR the Vpulse machine 4 hrs a day x 12 days, which...

TKR other post op things to consider

I am not post op yet but will be in a few weeks. Found out a few things today that will happen during my recovery that I was unaware of and just wondering others experiences; 1. 14 day course of sub q anticoagulant shots (Lovenox) 2. use of CPM at home 3. Use of Vpulse in lieu of anticoagulant...

    PKR April 29 PKR

Hey aadm4759, sounds like you are doing great and that is very inspirational. I will be having a Right medial PKR so very similar. What kind of shape were you in before the PKR? Were you able to keep up some training and go into surgery pretty strong already? I am able to swim and bike on my...

    PKR 4/29 PKR

aadm4759, looking forward to hearing about your recovery and return to Triathlon. I too have completed over 60 triathlons in the last 13 years to include 4 full Ironmans and 16 half IMs and am now scheduled for a Right PKR in June. Too much training I suppose. Have you been told by your surgeon...
