[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

@Mojo333 "Bilateral with tot" - lol, I love it! Best decision I ever made! I have had to go through a lot of metal detectors with my recent travels and I let them know if advance. At the Amsterdam airport, the man there said, "Dear... we do not care what's on the inside here... only the...

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Hi everyone... wanted to pop in and give an update. I realized my 6 mo anniversary was earlier this week, and I can't believe it! I can confidently say that my hips feel "normal", whatever that means, haha. I don't think about them, they don't limit me - I find myself moving in ways I haven't...

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Oh @Layla you are the best! Thanks for always remembering the milestones! My hips feel great. they aren’t holding me back from anything! I get stiff when I sit for a while, and I still have some pretty major swelling in my ankles at the end of the day. I have an appt to see my doc this week...

    TKR at 44

Hi... I am not around much anymore but popped in because I know my right knee needs replacing in the next year or so. I did the left 2 years ago, at 43 (almost 44), and had bilateral hips in April. Age should not keep you from the life you deserve to live. My surgeon has never batted an...

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

@Jaycey I have booked aisle for that purpose, and will hopefully get the "comfort+" economy seat that has a little extra leg room and such. I also gave myself a longer connection time in Amsterdam... I know from experience that it is no short haul from concourse to concourse!

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

@Layla you are the best! Thanks so much for this message, I do snoop a bit from time to time but don't have too much to say for myself on a regular basis (which is good). We spent last week "up north" in Michigan - simply stunning up there - lakes and sunshine and all around relaxing times...

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

@Mojo333 And thanks for checking in on me! Our trip to Chicago was great, but by the second morning, my body was definitely feeling it! Heading "up north" on Saturday for a week in northern Michigan. Feel much more confident about it than I thought I would!

I just turned 30...facing possible THR and pretty nervous.

Hi... I am not around much anymore and just saw @Mojo333 's tag of me. While I am not as young as you, I have had my share of issues at a relatively young age. I had a partial knee replacement at 41 (my son was 3), full replacement at 43 (my son was 5) and then bilateral hips in April at 45 (my...

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Thanks @Layla !! Feeling good and more "normal" day by day. Slept on my side for 2 hours last night!! Leave tomorrow morning for Chicago - a long car ride and lots of walking await. Plus the forecast is calling for temps near 100 degrees. Will be an adventure for sure!!

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

@Mojo333 it is actually helpful.. in this sense, I prefer to be “normal”! I really assumed it would be easy peasy now, but I’m strangely comforted to know that it’s not just me! Sent from my iPhone using BoneSmart Forum

@mikeycat I live outside Detroit - this is just a drive at least. My first flight that I know of will be at about 5 months post-op, to Amsterdam. And I am very very very willing to give that a go!

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Thanks @Layla ! Will be a test of walking... 2 nights in Chicago, with a 7 yr old who wants to do it ALL! Rest of visit up in the suburbs with my family - I can put my feet up and chill :)

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Thanks for the thoughts, all. It's like my body is rejecting the back - and I am sure it is mostly in my head - 2am... can't get comfy.. mind spinning. i am so fortunate with the adjustable base, so i can elevate head and feet independently (also doesn't impact my husband). Will have to ask...

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Hi everyone... just passed 12 weeks and feeling great... except for SLEEPING!!! Looking for some others' experiences or maybe just to commiserate. I slept fairly comfortably on my back for quite a while, which I attribute to my adjustable base bed. A couple weeks ago, I started feeling the...

    [REVISION THR] Another Second Chance

Glad your return to work has gone well! I've been back now long enough that no one cares that I had surgery... haha, they are over me and my issues!

@Elf1 I know... but, am I going to shift careers after almost 25 years? Hindsight, I guess, on this one! lol I got a standing desk but I have not used the option since I have returned to the office (nor did I use it much at all before but don't tell my office services team). I need to get...

[BILATERAL THRs] Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Hello everyone... 10 week update here! All in all, I am feeling really good. I am getting around quite well, but the first few steps after sitting are ugly. Having a desk job does me no service - I sit far too long, far too often. I definitely overdid it this weekend, but I have to say it...
