[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

@Debru4 Thanks! I feel so much more at ease after listening to your advise. I just get paranoid and start worrying about it. I do notice, that the pain goes away when I go on a short/long walk. Which is assuring as it seems to be a muscle healing issue. I will continue icing and see if that...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

Thanks @Jaycey this is comforting advise for sure! I didn't have a limp prior to surgery. My case was of MoM from my previous hip replacement but I only had minor complications from it - groin pain and involuntary muscle tingling mainly. I will continue icing (which I admit I haven't in a few...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

I know I am bumping an old post but I just wanted to drop a thanks to everyone for their advice and support! You guys were right, my limp has gone away and I am currently just shy of 5 months post OP. I have been a lot more active lately and can do all of my routine activities. Of course, I do...

    Bilateral MoM heading for revision

@Triker Aw man that's still 3 months away. I can completely understand your frustration! I really hope you get something much sooner than that. Have you asked the doc for chelation therapy? This should make sure your metal ions stay at a minimal until you have your surgery.

    Bilateral MoM heading for revision

@Triker I am sorry to hear about your experience. I can relate to what you mean as I am currently 6 weeks post op from a revision TLHR due to metallosis. I was implanted with a DePuy acetabular system back in 2009 and I had high levels of cobalt and chromium. I started developing symptoms a few...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

@KathyB I am really happy to hear about your progress! Last week was great for me as a lot of my thigh/hip muscle soreness has decreased. @Layla Last week was great I hope you had a good one too! I started to go out a bit more on longer car drives (as a passenger) and it feels amazing to get...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

Thanks @Mojo333 and @Going4fun! I know everyone is different but sometimes it feels that my recovery is taking a lot longer than a lot of folks who start walking aid free in 3-4 weeks. I guess my recovery is expected to be a bit longer as it was a revision? You're right, walking does help me...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

@Josephine Thanks Josephine! You were absolutely correct. I stopped doing those exercises and started increasing my walking distances. It has only been 2 days and it feels a lot stronger already! I will continue this and gradually increase my walking distances. I love this community...thanks for...

@Carriemay60 @Jaycey Happy to report back that icing made a HUGE difference! Walking felt so much easier and it was almost instant relief. Can't believe I hadn't been doing it this whole time. Thanks a lot folks! :)

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

@Jaycey You're absolutely right. I am going to start icing today and see if it makes my recovery and comfort any better. I guess I was expecting a much faster recovery - patience is not my virtue!

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

@Carriemay60 Thanks for your feedback! I will start using ice packs today :) At times I feel like I am learning to walk all over again. For some reason (probably it's because it's a revision) I feel that recovery is taking a lot longer than what it took 10 years ago during my first surgery. I...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

@Jaycey Thanks! Phew I am a bit relieved. I thought something wasn't right. :) I did experience clicking noises before the revision surgery due to metallosis. Clicking I believe is a common symptom of metallosis. @Josephine Thanks so much for taking the time out and compiling these questions. I...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

@Layla @Jaycey Thanks! I am following all the precautions and not overdoing my exercises. Maybe it's just paranoia but considering the progress I have made in just 2 weeks, getting off a cane at the moment seems like a long journey ahead. @Josephine Absolutely! I am also hearing some minor...

[REVISION THR] How long does the limp last after surgery<

Hi folks. I had my hip revised 3 weeks ago. I would say that my recovery is going pretty good. I am pretty much pain free but my muscles around my hip still feel pretty tight when I walk or do my physio. I stopped taking my pain meds 2 weeks out. I used a walker for the first 2 weeks and have...

Metallosis: Revision LTHR in 3 weeks

My situation was the opposite. My xrays indicated a perfectly healthy hardware and the bone scan did not show any signs of aseptic loosening. My blood test revealed the high levels of cobalt. I know how you feel and I understand your anxiety even though I am still 3 weeks away. But I heartily...

Metallosis: Revision LTHR in 3 weeks

I must not be thinking and typing straight :) Sorry I meant in the first couple of months. Based on my first procedure 10 years ago, I was off the walker in about 1-2 weeks and then switched to a cane. I was then cane free about 6 weeks post op. I realize I am a decade older than my first...

Metallosis: Revision LTHR in 3 weeks

Just going to hope and pray for a speedy safe recovery! It sucks to be in this situation but positivity is extremely key! Wow these are really helpful. Thank you for sharing! I really do hope it's temporary :( From my first surgery experience, my entire leg from knee down was completely numb...

Metallosis: Revision LTHR in 3 weeks

Hey guys! It has been a while since I have last visited! I am excited and nervous to start off a new year with a revision left THR on Jan 22. Hoping for a good positive outcome post op. I have researched extensively about revision procedures and their success rates. Let's just say there is a...

DePuy Orthopedics/Johnson & Johnson Hip Impant Recall

OMG! I just received a call from my surgeon about setting up an appointment for some sort of DePuy recall. I googled up for further information only to scare me even more. I am 22 right now and had a hip replacement (DePuy) last year (when I was 21) in June 2010. I DON'T want another...
