    Rehab after

I have to say that I remember very little of the hospital stay. Within 15 minutes of taking my percocet I was in dreamland and stayed there unless someone woke me up, and I don't even remember what I did when I was awake. Oh, the wonder of drugs!

    Rehab after

nurspair, a stool test will only tell if there is the presence of blood. Only a colonoscopy can detect and eliminate polyps. Doug, you are an endoscopy nurse's dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Rehab after

Hi Josephine, I had my surgery on 12/5/07. I have been a nurse for 34 years and have worked in the same institution all of those years. Talk about progress, I've seen changes that I had never dreamed of. I worked in ICU for 27years and for the last 7 I have been in what's called the special...

    Rehab after

Jennifer, I don't post often, but really enjoy reading about everyone's progress. I can reall relate to all of your concerns because I had a bilateral done in December. I'm so glad that I did both knees at one time because I don't think that I could stand going through the whole thing again in a...

    Custom fit TKR

Just a thought, but I would think that any anticoagulant or antiplatlet medication would have to be discontinued prior to another surgery to decrease bleeding risks, unless heparin would be used. Heparin can be stopped just hours prior to surgery with blood coagulation returning to normal. Then...

With pain meds, withoutpain meds, it didn't matter. For weeks I could start crying as easily as I could breath. I would hide in the bathroom until I got it out of my system because I didn't want to upset my family. I'm 11 week post bilateral TKR and I think I've got a handle on it now. Thank God...

having spinal & nerve block for TKR

I had both knees done at the same time. My OS also was not thrilled to do both at the same time, but theywere both so bad I don't think that doing one at a time would have been beneficial for me. I had an epidural-THE GREATEST! No pain for at least 24hours and no lingering effects for days. I'm...

Bsassy, I'm also from Pa., 54 and post bilateral tkr. I find that spreading my pt thouughout the day is helpful. It helps me with the stiffness somewhat. I still have this nagging pull in my left knee when I bend it. It feels to me as though the underlying tissue is adhered to the prosthesis or...

    Ankles swollen

I know what you're talking about. I had bilateral TKR 12/5/07. I find that the longer I'm on my feet the more swollen my ankles and lower legs become. I just elevate them when ever possible. There is probably still some healing going on. However, If this swelling is accompanied by shortness of...

    Encouraging Progress

Blondie, sounds like we're at about the same place. My better leg befor surgery is now the one that bothers me the most. I also have not returned to work yet. I'm supposed to return at the end of this month. However my job requires me to stand and or walk all day and I'm very concerned about it...

    Encouraging Progress

Kath, I had both knees done at the same time. I'm so glad it happened this way, Im really did not have a choice. I am now 8 1/2 weeks post surgery and doing well. I personally think that this would be an easier approach than doing them a month apart just from the psychological aspect of facing...

5 weeks and I've had it!

Dear lee28, Iknow what you're talkingabout. * weeks out and the stiffness remains. I've been told by PT that the stiffness can last for 6 months to a year before it's as good as it gets. Don't be discouraged just keep up with the PT and maintain your range of motion. At least the acute pain is...

    Two months after TKR

hi everyone, I am new to this site and so glad that I found it. I am 8 weeks post bilateral tkr and some times I think that I'll never be normal again. Progress seems so slow now that I tend to forget the progress that I've made. I gave up my cane 2 weeks ago and am now able to drive. Thank God...

night sweats and terrors after surgery

Hi Pam, I had bilateral tkh 8 weeks ago. I found that I had night sweats when I was still taking the narcotics. I stopped them at about 31/2 weeks and the sweats subsided.
