Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

Thanks Celle - I try to remember to get back on here to post every so often as I remember wanting to see some successes when I was about to have mine done or had just had them done.

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

7 months now & life is great! My latest camping trip was far south oregon coast & just over the CA border to see the redwoods. Lots of walking - I walked almost 10 miles one day, much of it on a sandy beach! Last year this time I went to the painted hills in OR & was unable to do a 1/4 mile...

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

It’s now a little over 6 months since my bilateral knee replacements on Mar 16. I know it’s a year for a full recovery but I’m amazed at how wonderful it is at 6 months! Last week I had a Drs appt on the 3rd floor & in the past I would have ridden the elevator- this time I walked up & then down...

Bilateral TKR Look Mom, No Crutches!

At my 6 week post op visit, my surgeon told me I had no need for physical therapy( it had shut down the day after my bilateral TKR on Mar 16) & that I was fine to drive. I’d been off narcotics for a few weeks at that point.

Bilateral TKR Oregon Mom's bilateral journey

Best wishes for a speedy recovery @Oregon mom ! I almost bought ice machines but a good friend told me that if I ask for them, they will send me home with them & insurance covers it.

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

It was so many years of not being able to hike or bike ride as my knees got worse & worse so it’s a huge joy now to get back to it. This has changed my life so much

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

I remember being at your stage & reading the forum & enjoying so much seeing success stories. I think many times people post problems but not success so I decided I’d come back & post if I was successful ( or if I wasn’t )

    Bilateral TKR Lily’s BTKR Journey

Hi @LilyinFohills ! I don’t think there is any normal schedule for knee recovery- everyone progresses differently. I had bilateral TKR on Mar 16- the day before everything shut down. I had no formal PT at all as it was shut down & at my post op visit, my surgeon said I was ahead of what he...

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

It’s now been 5.5 months & I look back & realize how much I’ve progressed. I went back to work at 12 weeks & initially I was exhausted. I was glad I had cooked & frozen meals as it was all I could do to shower, care for my dogs, heat something up to eat & go to bed. Now I get home, let dogs out...

Bilateral TKR What is the post op pain like?

Everyone is very different. My pain was less then I expected by a lot, but i iced constantly & stayed on schedule with the pain meds, never waiting for pain to take them. I was surprised by how sturdy my knees felt immediately after surgery too.

    TKR Birdwatcher's recovery thread

How cool is that?!?! I considered doing a ride with a local group but it’s 39 miles which is longer than I’ve done yet so I decided to wait until next year. Have a wonderful time on your ride & race

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

I am so blessed! I’m on the road to go less then a block down my street to hit the bike trails. In my area, even if I were to ride the roads, almost all roads here have bike lanes. With so many miles of bike trails to ride though I haven’t felt the need to ride any roads

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

I had a 3 day weekend so loaded up the dogs in the RV & we went camping, just a little over an hour from home as the RV is a new toy that I’m still getting used too. It was up in the coastal range mountains of Oregon & we had a great time- hiked 6 miles Sat & 6.5 miles Sun, up & down hills &...

Bilateral TKR Pams Mar 16, 2020 bilateral TKR

I am back to riding again, doing my best to contain myself & not overdo it ..... 8 miles yesterday & 11 today. I probably could have gone more but played it safe. It’s a lovely 70 degrees with sun & I have so many miles & miles of paved bike trails along the river to explore. I’m loving my new...

Bilateral TKR Trying to cope with the wait

Awesome news @Oregon mom ! You can do this! I was up walking the day after surgery- I was lightheaded but my knees felt so much sturdier that they did before surgery. I wish you a speedy recovery

    Bilateral TKR Mamamoe's Recovery Thread

@Mamamoe if you have pain after PT, it’s probably too much for your new knees. I had bilateral TKR on Mar 16, right before everything shutdown so I had no formal PT at all. I walked around my house, used my exercise bike ( but never to the point of pain) then gradually walked around outside...

    TKR Birdwatcher's recovery thread

I am loving my ebike so much! I’m lucky to live in a place with hundreds of miles of nice paved bike trails along rivers & parks. I’m not yet brave enough to carry my good camera as I ride but I will get there - there’s a lot of great bird areas that I ride along where it’d be fun to stop & shoot.
