TKR Has it really been 4 years??

It just dawned on me today that this week marks four years since my left TKR. The right one followed six weeks later. I guess I just thought of this today when I looked at the calendar. I no longer give my knees any thought unless I'm down on the floor trying to scrub the shower or tub. I can do...

    Thoughts on antibiotic??

I know the use of antibiotics prior to dental procedures is controversial. My dentist says I don't need them, but to do what my surgeon advises. Surgeon says yes. (There have been times I have forgotten and I've been fine). Next week I'm having two cysts removed from my back and since they are...

Can it really be three years???

Just realized that it has been three years since my first TKR, with the anniversary of the second one in six weeks! It really is possible to forget about your knees after TKR's and just get on with life! I realize I had a pretty easy time of it (almost embarrassingly so) but there were still so...

    TKR Two year anniversary!!

It dawned on me yesterday that today is the two-year anniversary of my right knee….six weeks younger than my left knee! So much has changed during that time! Last week I went to Disney World….something I had not done in four years! Prior to that, I had gone once or twice a year for over 20...

    TKR Lovestoread's Second Birthday!

So hard to believe that two years ago today I had my left knee replaced, followed six weeks later by my right knee. Who would believe it could be such a life-changing experience?? Gone are the days of limping around and saying no when people asked me to do things with them. Gone are the days of...

    What Do These Symbols Mean?

I've been a contributing member here for a bit, but for some reason, just today noticed the houses and the "K" and "H" under member's names on the left. What do these stand for?? Just curious….can't believe I never noticed these!

TKR Lovetoread's Recovery Thread---She is home already!

Had my surgery yesterday at 8:30. Believe it or not, we left to come home at 1:00! I had to walk up and down 15 stairs and walk down the hall before I was released. Took a quick shower this morning, but I could tell it was time for my meds. They're kicking in, so I'm just sitting with my ice...

    Yikes! Surgery a day earlier!

Phone just rang as I was here on the forum. Nurse called and said they had a cancellation next Tuesday and could I have surgery then instead of Wednesday. I said yes...and am hoping my husband can juggle his schedule at work. If this works out, I'll have one less day to worry about things! :beg:

    TED stockings

Apparently I have to wear the TED stockings for three weeks. Not looking forward to those! I had to wear them for 3 days once and that was awful. Question though....do you wear them during physical therapy? (This is just one of the crazy questions running through my mind. Guess I have too much...

    Attended class today

Today was my pre-op class day and I'm feeling so much better about things! I was sooo nervous earlier today, but so many questions were answered for me. I also had my pre-op physical, EKG and donated a pint of my blood. What a day! One thing I was most relieved to hear (as were several others at...

    I'm counting the days....

I'm stocking the fridge, taking care of last-minute appointments, etc. Only 16 days to go! Left knee first, then the right knee in August. Both knees have been bone-on-bone for about 4 years. Have had arthroscopic surgery on both and three rounds of Synvisc in each knee. The first two times I...
