    THR Is Ice still recommended?

Hi Yes, I do have a date for October 5. Keeping fingers cross Covid doesn't prevent it. My left hip is really limiting my ability to do walking exercise for very far. You have a nice day too.

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

You know this was live several weekends ago and as I listened to it, I don't know what the time was as I was also in the kitchen making a pie. LOL. So know...but I do think it was more towards the end of the day's topics. Since the videos haven't been posted there is no way for me to go back and...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

Sorry @Celle. I didn't think this had anything to do with my recovery since it was about the BoneSmart Joint Replacement Awareness Day so I thought it made sense to start a new thread. So to be clear, if I ask any question about anything at all, it goes under my recovery thread? Want to be sure...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

I simply asked what was the new thinking on using ice after surgery. Or something to that effect. I wished he had elaborated on it. Kind of disconcerting to just throw that out and not follow up with the why. I too used ice and would do it again for my left hip when that time comes in October.

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

@Mojo333 no I don’t remember who without going back and watching it all over again. It was mentioned so I posted a question but they ran out of time to answer it. I had hoped they would answer all the unanswered questions in a transcript but I couldn’t find one. Sorry

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

I listened to the BoneSmart webinar and one of the doctors on the panel alluded to ice not being recommended Now after surgery. I posted a question to the panel about that statement for clarification and they ran out of time before answering. Do any of the moderators know what he was referring to?

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

@Jamie...I did ask her to and she said she posted a question on here and I’m not sure she’s clear how to search for an answer. She is a Facebook friend from a group I belong to and lives in another state. I’ve tried to encourage her to call her doctor and see if she needs follow up. She stated...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

I am posting this question for a friend who recently was forced (via her health insurance) to go to a clinic 4 hours from her home for a THR. Her surgeon used an anterior approach. She was kept on the hospital campus for 10 days and released to go home with no follow up appointments. She was...

    THR Anterior or posterior?

I too have dysplasia and had a posterior lateral approach in November. I am doing fantastic. At 3 weeks I was driving and this was my right hip. He does a ton of surgeries and I will let him do my other hip in October. It has 3 screws in it from a fracture which complicates things but I trust...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

Just a quick note to update you on my 4 month check up. The PA thought everything looked good and we discussed doing my other hip. She said they generally like to wait a year so that the other hip is doing better, anesthesia etc. That was my plan anyway so that was good to hear. I’m planning on...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

I thought I ought to report in since I returned to my yoga class. The first class was January 2. My hip seemed to do fine. I go to a gentle yoga class so no crazy moves and the instructor did an all floor class. Only problem was, she did several seated forward fold poses and since my back...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

Thanks for the info on the "stutter step"...great name for it. It's good to hear that it's normal. I will be super careful with yoga. It's a gentle class and I'll be seeing my PT who is a yogi and she can tell me what is and isn't safe at this stage. My doctor said it would be pretty rare to...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

@CricketHip yes I guess you could say it's definitely a bit of stiffness...certainly not ready to rock and roll like my other hip. And maybe some of it is mental too but I would say it's a feeling of like I need to give it a few seconds to 'reset' before I begin walking. Yesterday we had a 4...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

Quick question for all you folks who've gone the distance in recovery. One thing I've noticed is after I've been sitting for a bit, is that when I stand up, it's like I have to stand for a few seconds to feel ok about using my new hip. Like I don't quite trust it to start walking immediately...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

Morning everyone! I had a good appointment for my 6 week follow up. He released me from all hip precautions except for taking baths or swimming until 12 weeks. I can return to yoga but to go slow and listen to my body. He told me I had 2 bone spurs on my femoral head which contributed to the...

@Fit4Family Does LLD stand for leg length discrepancy? If it does, he said my legs are now both the same length. I'm glad You got a few chuckles about dropping things.

Ok...what a day! I went to the fitness center to walk the track with my friend. After only 1 lap my non operated hip became very painful all the way to my knee. I completed 9 laps (12 is a mile) and told her I had to stop. My THR leg was fine. I got on the upright bike and did 15 minutes and...

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

@Layla ..Hi! Somehow I missed your sweet note of last week! This past Tuesday was 5 weeks since surgery which I can hardly believe as it’s gone by quickly. I see my surgeon for 6 week post op on the 17th next Tuesday with my list of questions! Can’t wait! :yay:

    THR Is Ice still recommended?

Kind of figured out my threshold for the ODIC. I logged a little over 6000 steps yesterday what with going to the gym, doing laundry and running a few errands. By the end of the night my hip was a bit achy. I did only 15 minutes on the upright stationary bike, so not sure if that was too much or...
