PKR Medial PKR active 53 year old

I wish my doctor advice me to do rehab to strengthen my knee before my PKR. I went in for surgery after a year of babying my bad knee and my leg was very weak to start. Then not being able to do much for 3 months after surgery my legs turned into noodles.

PKR Long Story of my Battle with a Bad Knee

End of year update. 2.5 years since PKR and 3 months since the same knee scoped to remove scar tissue and junk under my kneecap caused by the PKR. I can confidently say getting the knee scoped was the best decision I have made with this knee. While I am not playing tennis or running any more...

Revision TKR 15 months post-op. Still in pain.

It sounds like you are on your way to a rare long term success story. I have read many many threads here since I am 2+ years on without a full recovery. During this time, I have seen very few (if any) post from those that have had long term issues that suddenly or even gradually start getting...

PKR Medial PKR active 53 year old

Wow, Amazing. I guess recovery is the luck of the draw. You probably went in with a strong knee/leg which I think is very important. If I ever fully recover I don't think I would push it with long distance running. Just doing some biking, hiking, tennis, volleyball, and pickleball would...

How did the scope go Friday? So far, so good for me.

PKR Long Story of my Battle with a Bad Knee

Had my post op visit yesterday. Went over photos from inside my knee. Doc explained before and after photos. Other than cleaning out the junk and shaving the bottom of my kneecap, he said the biggest issue was "there was a prominent scar tissue just above the medial component of the...

PKR Long Story of my Battle with a Bad Knee

Way to early update...It could be the swelling giving the inside of my knee extra cushion, but the crackling, gravel sound and vibration is gone when I extend and contract my knee. It is nice and smooth like my good knee so far. This gives me some hope that I'll finanally be able to fully...

    PKR Nolander's LPKR Recovery Thread

This is very true. I have been around here 2 plus years because I never fully recovered. During this time I have seen many people come to this site complaining about a painfulll recovery and then after 3 to 5 months they are never heard from again. I suspect these are the people that fully...

PKR My Drama Queen Patellofemoral Knee

Jockette, Have you had your ever had knee scoped to see what is going on? It is not listed in your procedure list in the footer. As you can see in my latest update, I just had an arthroscope and lots of junk cleaned out. I am not sure how that junk got there other than because of all the...

PKR Long Story of my Battle with a Bad Knee

On paper it should clear things upa and I will finally be on the way to a full recovery but we will see. The photos he gave me to to the untrained eye looks like lots of junk was under my kneecap. I took ace wrapping off and changed bandages just now. 3 holes around the knee for the scope...

    PKR Clunky Knee

Sounds like we have similar issues. Just had my scoped yesterday. I told him fix everything while in there as I did not what to do this twice. He did mention possible IT band if needed which would be longer recovery. Fortunatley he did not need to mess with IT band and just cleaned and...

PKR Long Story of my Battle with a Bad Knee

I'mmm bacckkkk..... Ok, I had my knee scoped and cleaned up yesterday. My knee has been basically the same since last update in January 2023. My wife spoke to the doctor and took notes after the scope. I will have a post op visit in a few weeks to talk to him while not drugged up and get...

    PKR Clunky Knee

Sorry to hear you are still having issues. I am right there with you. What type of pain meds do you take? I take a Celebrex before I go to the health club to keep swelling down when exercising my knee. I also take Turmeric for inflammation. Both seem to help a little bit. Those two seem...

PKR Long Story of my Battle with a Bad Knee

I am at the 1.5 year since my PKR. I have not updated because not a whole lot has changed and it gets depressing posting bad news all the time. Also, I tend to go down a rabbit hole here reading everyone's stories good and bad. I saw my Doctor again 9/13/2022 14.5 months after surgery. He...

PKR Still painful at 4 months

I had PKR on medial side off knee and at 4 months I was just starting to move from mostly ROM stretches to strength exercises. I still have daily pain at 1.5 years. Sound like you are doing great so far.

Bilateral TKR 2 years out and facing up to facts

How did your lab results turn out? Any update? I just saw your question about my exercises. Here is a copy paste with my updated weights I am up to: Health Club every other day: - All 10 of my standard upper body weightlifting exercises. - 30 minutes at level 12 (out of 20 levels) for 6 to...

TKR I think I have pes anserine bursitis. Is it OK to do modified zumba?

I wish I read through this forum before my PKR. Lots of poor outcomes. However, I think those with excellent outcomes never bother with looking for a knee forum. Or they come here and disappear from posting because their knee feels so much better they have nothing to post about. Its...

    PKR Clunky Knee

Since you and I seem to be on similar paths I am interested in what your CT scan finds. I am on a regular exercise plan to strengthen my quad muscle in operated knee (see my last update on my PKR thread). Over the past few months I have gone up on weight in 5 lb increments every week or two so...

PKR Long Story of my Battle with a Bad Knee

1 Year update. It seems I still am making some small improvements each month. I have had a few very good days where I could walk around and barely notice my knee and I have thoughts of playing tennis again one day. Going upstairs my knee still feels very weak but no sharp pain. Going down...
