TKR April 2022 TKR right knee

thanks - i really don't have any pain at all - and haven't for a few weeks. But I do have stiffness at times. The pain I felt between months 2 and 3, I believe, was due to the fact that I stopped physical therapy and just counted on ADL. I was able to graduate from my second PT who was...

TKR April 2022 TKR right knee

Greetings to all my April 2022 (and other) TKR friends! I've learned SO much since my 4/5/22 surgery. #1 is that my good results won't just continue without effort. I need to continue PT on my own, and I've done so with amazing results. I thought once I got to 125-130 flexion, I was done and...

TKR April 2022 TKR right knee

Meloxicam: Well yesterday the discomfort was so great, after that elliptical experience, that I asked on the surgeons portal if perhaps a prescription anti-inflammatory may be in order. short term. I was delighted when they called several hours later and filled the prescription (Meloxicam)...

    TKR Marie’s LTKR thread!

@kiwicurls - I hope pickleball will come to your area. It's so much fun, great exercise and safer than tennis (though you can get injured ) and a great way to make friends!

    TKR Marie’s LTKR thread!

I love pickleball! It's played on a court smaller than tennis, and always doubles not singles. But it's actually much faster than tennis.

TKR April 2022 TKR right knee

Thank you, Jcx, and @kiwicurls - I think you're right! I'm so surprised at the amount of swelling and pain from that elliptical session. I should have stuck with the Peloton. I just wrote to my doctor asking if a prescription anti-inflammatory might be warranted. I rested and iced my knee...

TKR April 2022 TKR right knee

Here I am at 10 weeks. I've been doing great, until yesterday. I decided to get on my elliptical instead of my Peloton for the first time in six months. It felt good. The surgery leg did feel like a tree stump and very heavy compared to the other - but i had no discomfort and it felt great...

TKR 11 weeks out and I'm still icing

I feel the same. I had my RTKR the day after yours, and I still ice it a few times a day. The external swelling appears to be gone but there must be internal swelling still. I have a very achy knee the first couple hours of the morning unless i immediately start walking. Good luck to us both!

    TKR A New Day

I totally agree. I wish my surgeon had said much more about the road to recovery. Maybe it's because there are so many variables? Still, I had no idea, til Bonesmart, that it was going to be a long continuing journey.

    Bilateral TKR No progress ROM

Great explanation - thank you, Samsrf! Makes sense, and happy I can do all those things. I do still have discomfort on the medial side of my knee. And my right shin looks darker than the other leg, so is probably still bruised too. Ugh, glad I'll see the surgeon for the second time on Monday.

    Bilateral TKR No progress ROM

Thank you, @InkedMarie! That does help. I'm guessing I'm at 130, which makes me feel super!

    Bilateral TKR No progress ROM

Is there a way to measure our flexion ROM ourselves? Since i graduated from PT, I still continue to do heel slides and would love to know where I am. I was at 120, but know it takes gentle repetitions to keep it there. Thank you!

    TKR Out patient TKR surgery?

I had a TKR in early April this year, and was thrilled that my doctor not only wanted to do it out-patient, but said I didn't need to have it done in the hospital because I'm so healthy. It was done at a surgical center in Charlotte NC and I've never seen such a well-run machine with kind...
