Yes!! Next summer will be wonderful for both of us! My family caught me running up the stairs last week( I forgot I had a zoom meeting for work:dubious: ) and were like "woah mom, go!". without thinking I sprinted up the steps! Not long ago I was hobbling up the stairs like a tin man. A groan...

Thanks Layla! Things are moving along! Another woman mentioned to me she was having a hard time with turning 50 next year (I turn 50 next year also) and I thought to myself I'm excited to turn 50! For the first time in a long time I am hopeful for the coming years. My hips have made me feel old...

    THR A hiker's tale (male, age 49)

Hi @pdx_hiker ! 49 and very active as well here. Just want to say don't overdo it like me lol. I've had multiple setbacks due to pushing myself too hard. Currently taking another break from lower body exercises this week to recalibrate because I just can't seem to learn my lesson. In the...

Hi @barbloki ! Glad to hear you are doing well!! I'm doing pretty well. I too am still trying to find balance as far as strengthening my muscles and doing too much. It's a catch 22 as I believe the pain I have is from my muscles being so weak (not from the joint) yet when I do exercises to...

THR New Here- THR 8/22/22- Muscle Atrophy (maybe)

Hi SweetV! I had my right hip done on July 13 so almost 10 weeks in. I had a good cry this weekend that I'm "not back to normal". It's really sad and scary to go go through something so traumatic and not feel the relief you hear about from everyone else. I started to dread people asking me how...

Thanks @Layla !! Feels like just yesterday and yet a lifetime ago lol. Really nice to hear from everyone. Seems like for the most part everyone is doing well, yay! @Eman85 I would like to hear your setback story if you are willing to share. I think it would be good for me to hear.

Hi! Overall I'm doing well. I do however still get pain when I overdo it. Yesterday I was very sore. I went to my sons Cross Country meet which involved a lot of driving then standing for hours followed by more driving. I then proceeded to invite people over for dinner which involved cooking...

I used to see commercials for different meds that would say "If you can't sit or stand for more than 30 minutes.." and I would think " who can't stand or sit for 30 minutes?!" It meT lol. the more times around the sun the the humble I become.

Same here @dnordo220 very active. Sitting also kills me. I was dealing with some pretty severe sciatica on the same side of my THR before surgery. I was hoping that would have magically gone away somehow from having my hip replaced but knew better. I can say it is getting better though and I'm...

I am a gardener too! Just been looking at and watering ignoring weeds lol. My husband shaved my legs for me at first (saint). I hate the prickle feeling. Yesterday was a really good day. The best my hip has felt and of course that lifted my spirits as well. The trick today will be not overdoing...

Thanks Barbara. We are just in a "meantime" phase. Better but not 100%. I don't know about you but I tend to be an all or nothing person so situations like this are challenging for me. My husband always says "You have 2 speeds. Stop and go" Ha! So oddly enough I didn't have as hard of a time...
