Maybe that is the case. When I was shocked by the 4 month wait the surgeon didn't really give an explanation. But then again he was never good at explaining anything. lol.
I have a new surgeon. He is a lot closer, instead of the nearly 2 hour drive to the previous surgeon. This new guy I...
Hello all,
I'm getting a LTKR revision due to a nickel allergy and the surgeon said he couldn't get me in until January.
Anyone who had a knee revision done: do you recall how long the wait was for you surgery?
@agsmom
Thanks, that is all good to hear.
I think my metal allergy made everything so much worse that I'm hoping the revision is actually a lot better. I'm still in pain and on crutches as week 12 so I think almost anything can be better than this.
Quick question: how long did it take you to...
@ agsmom - I am glad your revision is going well. I am interested in your story as a saw my surgeon today about revision and couldn't get me in until January. I'm on crutches and can't put much weight on my knee for more than a couple steps. He's setting me up with another surgeon that can...
@agsmom
Wow, I'm sorry you've been through so much. So the revision is botched and you are expected to just live with it? I'm excited /scared for my revision just 3 months after the original TKR. Here's hoping we're both walking normal some day.
Exactly. But with the nickel allergy my swelling never went away. PT was trying to bend me (not pushing too hard but trying to slowly work me into getting better ROM) and then the MUA really wrecked me. All that made the swelling worse. That MUA pain was nearly as bad ad post-surgery pain...
Hello,
Saw this thread and thought I'd add my 2 cents for people searching for metal allergy problems. I just got the Orthopedic Analysis metal sensitivity blood tests results back yesterday and I am "highly sensitive" to Nickel. My symptoms were a small skin irritation within the first month...
Hello,
I had OATS surgery back in December 2014. One graft, under the patella. My recovery was similar to yours. Non -weight bearing and locked within a certain degrees so the graft wouldn't fail.
I had a terrible time for a year. Did my PT each day like a good boy and then hurt so bad I...
I'm feeling ya. Part of me wants to never go through that experience again because of the pain, the DVT business, the torturous MUA, and all the pain meds. But part of me wants to just finally walk normally again.
@WFD - make sure you ask for the blood test and not the scratch test. The...
Ok. I have big news. My surgeon's nurse called me today and said my Metal Sensitivity tests came back and I am "highly reactive" to Nickel. So I have an appointment with my surgeon on Monday 9/19 to discuss a Revision to replace the artificial knee with one that is nickel free.
Also, got a...
@Jockette - thanks for the messaging tips. I'll test them out now. :)
I'm just now remembering that tourniquet pain on that thigh for a couple weeks. That was pretty painful.
@DIYSteve - I think even being a former weightlifter made my muscle a lot tighter and harder to get the range of...
Benne68,
You are so right. A "reset" is exactly what the MUA felt like. Afterwards I was in as much as soon after surgery. Felt like I lost 4 weeks of progress.
Sidenote: how do you quote other's posts?
Thanks Doupie,
Sounds like you have an awesome Physical Therapist. Mine are ...Ok. They are pretty good with not pushing me too hard. After my MUA I was hurting so bad they told me to take a week off. When they realized the leg straightening "push-downs" (for lack of a better term) for...
Thank you, Rockette.
I have some reading to do. :)
Rough dates for my surgeries:
June 2013: Microfacture Surgery : Left Knee Patella
December 2014: Osteoarticular transfer system (OATS): Left Knee Patella
December 2015: Chondroplasty of patella: Left knee
June 28, 2022: Total Knee Replacement...
Hi TLB,
I didn't have the catheter that you are speaking of but I can at least tell you that day 3 was the worst day of pain for me and then it get better from there on. By a few days after that I didn't need pain meds except for sleeping.
Hopefully you pain starts decreasing as well. Good...
Hello all,
Had LTKR on June 28th and have been checking this site for info on and off since. I have been feeling very discouraged for days now as I’m at 10.5 weeks recovery and I feel my recovery is moving at a snail's pace, if at all.
TLDR: My range of motion is terrible (12-85). I’m still on...
