    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

Hi all - hope you all are doing well; it's been awhile! I am about 9 months out for right TKR surgery and have been doing great - after a couple months of hell & obstacles right after the surgery. I've been waking up in the middle of the night the past few weeks with terrible pain in my knee...

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

At almost 9 weeks now, I just noticed I am now beginning to be GLAD I had this TKR!!! :) I didn't think I would ever get here......some Advil once in awhile is all now... I am so grateful I followed BoneSmart's PT recommendations! Sometimes it feels like I'm almost totally back to normal...

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

Hi I'm now at 8 weeks. Sleep has better, alleluia. Rarely need pain meds. Started driving again, amazing the freedom it brings! :yahoo: I only went to PT three times in the first two weeks after surgery and after my surgeon pushed on my knee to get extension and then pulled on my foot to my...

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

Well, I was totally under. But it was different than my other knee surgeries & even my sinus surgery. I always was intubated before. This time I had a nerve block injected right above my knee, and an epidural and then they gave me something they called "the best margarita you’ll have" and they...

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

Yes! I am 63, so post-menopausal, but I have been on bioidentical hormones for 15 years which saved me from most menopausal symptoms! I have noticed as I age that my memory is not as crisp as it used to be. But nothing really bad like the beginning of dementia. :) But these recent ones -...

JoWo & Sisterpat, Good advice about the cane when stiff... I've only been using it when I have to walk a long distance. But I thought it would be better to when I get up and I'm stiff to use it for a few minutes so I don't throw my whole body out of whack by limping.

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

Hi Two questions please - almost 7 weeks out: 1. I have been off all narcotic type drugs for almost 3 weeks. Just Advil. I’ve noticed lately I am occasionally using the wrong word for things….. i.e. today I wanted hubby to hand me a big pillow, instead I said, “Will you please hand me that...

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

I guess having patience is the only thing we can do right now. I just wish there was a way to figure out when it's going to be a good day and when it's not. I had two good night's sleep and two wonderful days. Then I had two horrible night's sleep and two days that felt like I was back at week...

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

This recovery truly is like a roller coaster ride.... up, down, up, down. I'm 5 1/2 weeks out. Tues & Wed this week were marvelous! :yahoo: I slept better two nights and had barely any pain. Got stuff done. Great ROM. No cane, no walker. Even did some client accounting at my desk for a...

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

Thanks again for all the support and advice!:console2: I sure am enjoying this do it yourself physical therapy.... I am doing it deliberately yet with wisdom. Some discomfort (good hurt), zero pain. No pain meds for three days, except Advil. Sunday I was able to do 5 full rotations on the...

Thank you so much for this informative, detailed & caring reply..... I'm just ready to turn off the light to to sleep and saw this. I will sleep with greater peace in my heart as to "doing it my way"...like Frank Sinatra says.

That is what is working for me....doing it on my own. But the pressure to do aggressive PT is intense....makes me feel like a wimp or lazy if I don't do what they say.

    TKR Powerhouse's Recovery

It's been a bit of time since I posted... Tomorrow marks 5 weeks since surgery. I have not gone to PT since 6/20 because of the after-effects of it - horrible spasms and lack of ROM. When I had my TKR in 2015, it was rough, but I was up and doing a whole lot more at 5 weeks than I am doing...

TKR TKR Stitch hovering just above the skin

Celle, I have never found Tylenol to do anything for any kind of pain ...all of my adult life. I never take it because for me it doesn't work. I've always been an Advil girl. So these past several weeks have been rough because doctor demands no anti-inflammatory except Celebrex. My daughter is...

TKR TKR Stitch hovering just above the skin

Just this morning I decided I'm going to go back to the Naproxen, or Advil, since I'm now 4 weeks out. I came to the site to search Advil and found this thread. Very interesting that some of you are taking Advil or Aleve. I was told under NO circumstances to take Advil or Naproxen...
