    I saw Dr. Pagnotto

 I covered this in my own recovery thread, but I'm sure not everyone has read that. My surgery was on Monday morning, and I went home on Friday afternoon. (The reason of course was that my Mom passed away, and I wasn't going to miss her funeral. The insurance company had authorized a...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Thanks. Actually, what I've determined is that I feel worst getting out of the truck after the hour long drive to the jobsite in the morning. My knees seem to get really stiff from that hour of sitting still. Once I get to work and start moving around they loosen up. The drive home isn't quite...

TKR I think I'll call her Tahwanda!

My OS said they weren't necessary, but my dentist said they were. Go figure. (I got the prescription from the dentist, and took one anyway, before my recent cleaning. Why tempt fate?)

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Update on going back to work... I went in on Tuesday, with the intention taking it a little easy. Guess how that worked out. The first thing I was asked to do was to trench for a gas service line to one of the new houses. My first question was, "Do I have to expose the main line, or is the...

    Help finding surgeon

It wasn't my idea. I had been to see him several years ago, and at that time his advice was to put up with it until I couldn't take it any more. That's when I went back. The right knee was the worse feeling of the two, but he looked at the x-rays and said they were both pretty bad. His words...

    Help finding surgeon

@1Gideon9, I can sympathize with that feeling of not being able to get out of the truck at the end of the day, and I spend lots of time sitting on my butt most days. I can only imagine what it's like to have to spend as much time on your feet as your job requires. Here's the doctor that took...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Update on the foot pain--The doctor looked at it, felt here and pressed there, asked if it hurt, and said there seem to be some bone spurs in there, and it's just some arthritis. His recommendation is to ignore it.

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Well, since it's 10 weeks today since surgery, I figure I owe everybody an update. I apologize @KarriB and @jarabas, I'd intended to reply. I must've gotten sidetracked. Yeah, some of those trucks are so big that once you get up off the ground you pretty much just climb a set of stairs to get...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

"Hurting", as in causing pain, or "hurting" as in doing damage? I know that if I overdo it'll cause pain. I've already proven that to myself. I got the impression from my conversation at the doctor's office that I'm well enough that I'm not going to damage anything (unless I do something clumsy...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

An update, that some may find interesting... Yesterday, was 6 weeks from surgery. I had an appointment with the doctor today. In anticipation of my appointment today, PT did up an evaluation yesterday which I guess they faxed to the doctor. He asked how things were going, how was PT going? I...

    Depression/post-op blues

I just updated my own recovery thread, but I'd been considering making a post to this one as well. I'm told I'm doing well, and I feel like it's true, but not being able to do what I really want to do is getting old. Here's what I posted there, about this topic: While I won't go as far as...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Thanks, @KarriB, for asking. I've been here reading often, but just haven't felt like thinking hard enough to write a post. I'm doing well. The back/butt pain hasn't bothered me too much in the past week or so. Prior to that, I discovered that heat was the better remedy, and I stole my wife's...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Just an update... This is Thursday, so I'm three weeks and three days out. I'm waiting right now for the last visit from the home PT. Outpatient PT will begin on Monday. I'm told I'm doing well, although I keep getting reminded to swing my knees through as I walk. I haven't touched the walker...

Bilateral TKR FreeriderNC's Recovery Thread - Update

The home PT people gave me one of those, for doing heel slides while laying on the bed. (I had to provide my own plastic Walmart bag to make things slide easily.) It's nice, in that I can be in full control of exactly how far I want to pull. Whenever they've checked my range of motion, it's been...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

It's past due for an update. Yeah, well, there was one little bump in the road... This is Wednesday. Saturday, or so, I started feeling some pain, in the left side of my back, down low. I've had kidney stones in the past, and I thought, no matter how inopportune the timing, this might be...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Thank you, Karri. Energy wise, I think I'm pretty well caught up from Sunday and Monday's demands. Now I'm just back to 9 days BTKR post-op perky. I came home from the hospital in my truck, and that extra few inches of height was a big help. We decided to use the car for the funeral, and once...

Bilateral TKR Bubbles BTKR 9 November 2015

As I was being encouraged to do heel slides as far as I could today, I did get the "no pain, no gain" meme from the PT, but at no time did I feel any real pressure to go beyond the point of discomfort.

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Just a quick update, from my own desktop computer. (My walker is in front of me, while I sit on a barstool. Not comfortable, but a really easy spot to get back up from.) I'm doing well, by any standard. The funeral was physically demanding, just in terms of having to get in and out of the car...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Thanks, @Celle, for editing my goof. It was long enough once, let alone a second time, but I'm used to MY computer, and I was afraid I'd end up deleting them both. Thanks, also, everyone, for the condolences on Mom's passing. I spoke to her on the phone, hospital bed to hospital bed, the day...

Bilateral TKR XKV8R's BTKR recovery thread

Sorry, double post. Using my wife's tablet, which I'm not comfortable on. I'd hit the delete button myself, but I'm afraid I'd lose the original as well. One of the staff, can you correct my error, please?
