Thanks Marieltha! It sure is! Every day is ground hog day-I I feel like I start over every time. It's the scarring though, the tendons are thick and angry probably....even my scar is thickened and red still-i am improving but at a veeerrrryyyy slow pace! Still can only lift my arm up to 123...

Standard Shoulder Replacement Finally after 5 years - a new shoulder

Hi Jamie just wondering what level you are at with raising your arm. Do you have full range? I can only raise my arm to 120 (after extensive stretching) the therapist can push me back to 165. I am really frustrated with my recovery. I was feeling that I was winning a few battles but was...

Standard Shoulder Replacement 3 month post -op

Just wondering when you say 150- are you able to raise it to 150 or is that the therapist pushing it back to 150. If you are able to raise it yourself that is amazing (to me) I am 9 months post op and can only raise it to 120 and that's after they stretch me. I am still doing PT. They can...

Sorry to hear about your ordeal- have you been tested for diabetes? Also are you in an area where lyme disease is prevalent or any other tick borne illness? Just a thought..

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

Thank you Jaycey and Marieltha! Marieltha it's a wonderful feeling to be able to cut something hard and feel no pain. I was at the point of not being able to lift a fork with my right hand (forget about cutting food) and now I can cut a watermelon! Glad to hear you are doing well!

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

Lol. I only did it once- it's cold here now. I am definitely going to do more next year though! I am doing much better. I can raise my arm on my own to about 120. They push me back to 165. The aching pain in my back and shoulder is much less. My doctor told me to keep torturing myself...

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

I definitely dont look forward to the stretches-nothing about them feels good....after they are done I feel better though- I think my excessive adhesions have something to do with that. Funny about sleeping though- I have probably been sleeping flat since about the 3rd week post op- i didnt...

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

Thank you! Hopefully you will never need the replacement! I am finding that the more I try to stretch the more I can do- even strenuous stretching -it makes me feel better. I am 5 months out so I think I am past the point of injury from stretching-it still feels like torture...

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

I took it easy with the paddles . I couldn't turn with it. I actually had to sit to turn it around. (You have to dig deep to turn it around). It wasnt too bad because you keep your arms close to your body. Kind of like sweeping . I did that early on keeping my arms tucked.

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

Thanks. I think my thick scar tissue is an impediment along with my fused spine and kyphoscolisis....unfortunately. I get a really good massage twice a week from where I go to acupuncture. I think I just have to be patient. My doctor reminded me that he said a year at the last visit and I am...

Surgery was March 18th. I put it in the title as I am computer illiterate lol. I tried to get rid of the double avatar but couldn't do that either! Do you feel like every day you have to start over or do you keep the progress you made?

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

So just an update- I am a little over 4 months out of surgery. Still doing physical therapy. I had extensive scarring around the joint - the Dr mentioned that I was going to need to work hard for a year. ( I have a keloid on the actual scar also- dont know if the same process was happening...

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

Thanks for the advice. I actually feel.better after all the stretching with physical therapy when it is over. It's only the overhead stretches that are not tolerated well. I have pulleys at home and have been using the for a week and a half and do well with them. I tried to upload the protocol...

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

Hello Jamie! Thanks for taking the time out to help me! They did soft tissue in the beginning but have stopped and I do a circuit of excersize. Slides on the table -slides up the wall- pulleys. Basically 10 of each hold for five seconds. Then I go upside down with weights 3 pound to try to...

Standard Shoulder Replacement March 18th surgery

Wish I found this site sooner. I am 12 weeks post OP. I only started pulleys last week. I had a very conservative program. It said pulleys when 140 is achieved and put it between weeks 10 and 11 post op. Physical therapist can get me to 150 with torture but I can only push back to maybe 125...
