@Layla
Thank you so much!! I am feeling GREAT! I go back to work on Tuesday, November 2. Walked around the Mall of America today with my grandson and let me tell you, that wouldn't have happened 3 or 4 months ago. I still have some soreness but it is taken care of pretty well with either...
Well, PO day 4. I showered, and went for a (small) walk outside. Feeling so much better this round. I think it’s because I’ve already been through this recently and I’m more confident this time. (E.g. I know I won’t break! Lol!). Grateful that I didn’t get cancelled due to Covid admissions...
YOWZA! I forgot in the short 6 weeks since my last one how much PO day 1 hurts! Decided to go downstairs to eat dinner with the fam and going DOWN stairs was terrible. I'm back in bed now and getting ready to take my pain meds for the night. I've got ice and the best family support ever...
@Starmarie—yes, it’s hard to get going after sitting on the couch for a while. I watched a YouTube video before my first surgery. Gross! And I’m a nurse so that’s saying something-lol!
Surgery #2 (right hip replacement, anterior) is coming up on Wednesday, 9/15. I'm thinking about how things have gone so far and I've decided to do things differently this time. I hope my observations can help someone.
1) I will not feel like I'm bothering someone by using my call light in...
@Jaceyduck when I walk I do have soreness. Not sure it is pain exactly, but it's definitely noticeable. For me though, things are all jumbled up because of the pain in my right hip. Once that is fixed, I guess I'll finally be able to tell the difference between pain and soreness. I'm still...
@chopper72 I was very cane dependent at 3 weeks too. It was just after I hit 4 weeks that all of a sudden, I could walk without it. Best wishes for a healthy recovery!
@Jaceyduck I JUST stopped using my cane a few days ago. It was a pretty abrupt difference from one day to the other so just know that one day soon you will be walking outside without the cane. I know this is a journey, but I feel your frustration. Sending you good thoughts for the days ahead.
Starting tomorrow I have to be off the ibuprofen until surgery. I remember how bad I hurt for that week prior to my last one so not looking forward to it. I do have some narcotics left over so I may turn to those at night to get me through the week.
@58hippain Yes, I guess it's pretty aggressive. I'm a nurse and we made this decision so that I when I went back to work I'd be DONE!! I don't have to go back for a few weeks and then be off again. Thank you for the good wishes.
Hi-nice to meet you all. I'm so glad I found this site. I had THR on 8/4 (direct anterior approach). I'm feeling pretty good, but to be honest, not as well as I thought I would at this point. I think people who have had Hip replacements either have a bad memory, or are fibbers! LOL! It's...
