TKR Here I am with my new left knee

I have not done this in a while. I hope all my friends are well. I think I can finally say Im glad I did it. I remember hearing people say that I would get to where I didn't think about my knee ALL the time. I think im there. The other one occupies my thoughts more now days.

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

Vacation was GREAT ! I walked 2-3 miles every day (usually on the beach) + whatever walking we did during our activities. Last year I was in pain and couldn't keep up. Focusing on losing some weight now to keep the new knee healthy, and to prolong the "inevitable" with the other. It has been...

    TKR Rob's Knew Knee

Glad to hear you continue to improve. I have a back surgery under my belt along with the knee, so I know how you feel. Good luck with it. At 10 months, I feel pretty darn good. I continue to see improvement with my knee, but very small increments. Other than an occasional bad day, I can do...

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

Thanks guys. Siesta Key, Fla. for spring break in a couple weeks ! Last April when I was there, I was in so much pain I couldn't keep up with the family. That's when my wife told me it was time for the new knee. I'm hoping for better results walking on the beach this year ! Good to see...

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

Hey All. It's been a few weeks. My 6 month check up was great. X-ray was good, ROM was good. Dr. is happy with my activity level, and said I can do pretty much anything I feel up to (within reason). I try to walk a mile a day on the treadmill, and sometimes a little on the bike. Happy Fat...

TKR Braunzie's Journey on "The Other Side"?

I would have to say I agree with all of that. How's the clunking ? I still feel it most of the time. I try to walk with a "normal" stride, but I'm not quite there yet. It's kinda like I lock my knee out instead of putting full weight on it. Does that make sense ? It is getting stronger...

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

Hello All ! Diddo on the 6 Monthers ! Standing is still one of the more difficult things for me to do also. I am finding that I'm able to start walking when I stand up much quicker, and my flex is getting better. I am to the point where I favor my new knee in certain situations.

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

Hi guys. Happy New Year ! Been a while. I've been so busy trying to get back to normal, plus the Holidays, just haven't checked in. The knee is still "clunking" along (literally). I still have some aches and pains that come and go, but I think I'm doing good for 5 1/2 months. My other knee...

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

It's been a week. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I have so many things to be thankful for. Sometimes I get pain right on the knee cap area when going down stairs. Anyone else ? I've been working in the basement carrying boxes and bending more, maybe that's it. I gotta get going on my...

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

It's funny. A "simple" thing like getting in and out of a car takes so much thought. Like walking, stairs, sleeping. It's all getting easier I guess. @hawk2go. It's all about protecting the knee. I have started a new stretch that I kneel on my bed and put weight downward forcing my leg to...

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

OK, I walked a mile today, which is longest so far. Have tried to get into a car more normally, but still end up going to the "sit and spin" when I don't feel comfortable. Walked up a flight of stairs to the gym at work, and back down....Progress !

    Firefighter

I too think it depends on the person. At 4 months, as I am now, there is no way I could do the job as a patrolman on the streets. I am a higher rank and do mostly administrative duties. I hope to get to that point some day. I have heard stories of guys returning at 100%, but I don't know the...

TKR Here I am with my new left knee

4 months this week. I'm back to doing stair work, and its going well. Had my last PT session. It was getting to the point where I would just rather do my own anyway. I rode my real bicycle almost every day this week, which was great. Over 5 miles today ! Tomorrow I'm going to walk a bit...

TKR Braunzie's Journey on "The Other Side"?

Good stuff. I think our journey has been very similar. We are a week apart and experiencing a lot of the same things. I am to the point where my new knee works better than the other one on some days. Great job on losing the Lbs. I'm 2 days into that dreaded "D" word. How is life after PT ...

TKR Braunzie's Journey on "The Other Side"?

Hang in there ! I totally agree. I was hoping to be doing a little better by now too. I guess I'm doing good, but progress hurts. We've had a nice indian summer this past week, so I have done more walking and yard work than I've been doing. I couldn't resist going for a couple bicycle rides...

TKR Braunzie's Journey on "The Other Side"?

Good job on the stairs. I'm just getting back to stairs after my "PT setback", and I find going DOWN stairs is much harder than going up.

    TKR Dearjr's new knee

Add me to the clicking/klunking club. I still have swelling from surgery at 3 months though. Doc says swelling and clunking could last 6 months.
