Hey Helen,
You're right. We were part of a band of sisters back in 2015. Just caught up on your recovery thread for knee #2. Glad to see you are doing well.
My experience has been the knees just get better and better with time. Mine have reached a point now that I think is perfect. I would...
@tcdc135
I see your surgery was recent. Be patient, that first rotation will come. I can still remember my excitement when I made a revolution. My PT had me doing reverse/forward rocking. Reverse was easier for me.
Hi Clipless :wave: great seeing you!
Btw, my new hip is awesome!!!! Feels...
Just recently checked back in on Bone Smart. I wanted to say hello to everyone and post an update to my knee recovery thread. For some reason my original thread is locked. My left knee replacement was so easy and just a picture perfect recovery. My right knee was very different. It was a long...
Good morning! Like you, I can now make nighttime bathroom visits unassisted. My hubby looks more exhausted than I do. I removed my aqua cell bandage yesterday - if looks were the determining factor, this knee would be better than the first. Give me function over looks.
I never had home PT - OP...
Catching up on your thread :yes:.
Thanks for the link to your cooking blog. the chicken thigh recipe looks really tasty!
I'll have to keep secure areas in mind. I can see myself forgetting and setting off alarms.
@Timetolive, just catching up on your thread. I'm up, going to the bathroom a lot at night as well. Taking the miralax once a day works for me. I've accepted that recovery of this knee will require more patience and time. I'm finally catching up on threads. Wishing you a peaceful night.
Hey Sarah Jane, thanks for stopping by.
Today is one week. One very long week. I'm a good example of how different two knees can be with same patient, same doctor and relative close proximity surgery times.
I can now realize how truly blessed I was with my first surgery and recovery. This...
My knee replacements were 8 weeks apart. The first knee feels totally normal now. I had 2 weeks of freedom and enjoying life before the 2nd TKR. It was the right decision for me.
@Slainte, like you I'm so looking forward to strengthening my body.im going to make the best of these new knees. I think they will be about 14 weeks and 6 weeks old Christmas time. I'm looking forward to keeping my body in motion, maybe losing some weight.
My 8 week old left knee has stepped...
Karri, I was very cautious when I went for a short ride before this surgery. The tires on the white/orange bicycle in photos are 3 inches wide. The white/teal tires are 4 inches wide and will be a recovery present to myself. I hope to be riding in January in Houston, so ice/snow is not a factor.
I'm not a bike expert but my experience has been the fat tire bikes are more stable, so easier for me to balance. The ride is extremely smooth ( hard to feel bumps in the road). I like my stationary recumbent for rainy days and rehab - but for me, I love feeling the wind on my face ( I'm...
I had the similar PT positive experience. I always left PT more flexible and a little spring in my step! I am headed home tomorrow. My first OP PT is setup for Monday. It will probably be 5 weeks before I'm ready for the recumbent. Like Karri, I have one at home. Mine's going on 25 years old. Wow!
I agree Slainte, not perfect but better. It seems we both have anatomical variants causing less than best. Im guessing a hip evaluation is in my future. I'm hoping biking is still fun for me. If it is cycling will be a major part of my activity program.
I have a fat tire bike picked out as a...
Thanks so much.
So far so good. I've been up walking, completed my exercises. At this time, the obvious is seeing the misalignment due to rotation of femur(congenital). I'm attaching a photo. This is my right knee. If I did not know better, I would think it the left. I was expecting a straight...
Saw OS.
Not a normal knee replacement. OS will be following closely. My femur is rotated, probably congenital and this rotation is what's causing the lower leg to be angled laterally. There is no correction that can be made with the knee replacement. They went for maximum stability. This...
A tale of two w's used by my OS
:happydance::happydance:
First w was a wow as he looked and flexed 8 week old left knee. I got to hear that WOW and 'lets go do it again.'
:what::what::what:
Second w was wacky knee - spoken to my husband post operatively. I knew my knees were wacky presurg...
Thanks for all the thoughts prayers and well wishes! Your support and care mean a lot! I am getting ready to take my last special shower, then it's off to the hospital.
