Rotator Cuff Repair Momweb starts recovery

Sue, How did your visit with the surgeon go? I won't see mine again until July 22. My PT says I won't need to continue with him after that but should contain the stretching and strengthening on my own. The hardest movements are behind the back and across the opposite shoulder. He also gave...

I'm so glad things are improving! Getting the swelling down was the key for me after psoas release. You had so much more done, but that swelling can still be the key to getting back to normal!

Rotator Cuff Repair SaraK's At It Again!

@Layla We've had a few days of rain which has kept the temps down in 70s and low 80s. I'm heading to KC for the weekend to see my mom (lots of cards in my future) and my college roommate. I won't be able to visit my grandmother in the nursing home but will do a window visit and bring her...

@tazzy13 - just checking in to see how things are going. Hope all is continuing to go well with your new bionic shoulder!

Reverse Shoulder Replacement Biceps Pain from Shoulder Osteoarthritis

My rotator cuff surgery was on dominant arm so I get your concern. I had to rely on my 19 YO son. He was helpful but sometimes needed extra reminders. I identified any jar I was going to need opened and had my son do the night before or in am. He quickly learned that I'd help with fixing...

Reverse Shoulder Replacement Biceps Pain from Shoulder Osteoarthritis

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get an early date - and that your other shoulder is up to handling the increased worl load!

Reverse Shoulder Replacement Increased pain levels.

I feel for you - you've been thru so much already! What has your surgeon said about the pain level or the appearance?

Rotator Cuff Repair Should I be concerned about my shoulder surgery?

@Kwon - you should ask your surgeon those questions as the answer might depend on your particular situation. My surgeon said I needed to wait until the 6 month point to start increasing weight significantly but hasn't indicated that anything would be off limits. He just cautioned that I...

Rotator Cuff Repair Momweb starts recovery

Ugh - back problems are the worst! You can't get comfortable sitting standing or laying down. My mom had the radiofrequency ablation and it helps for a couple of years and is then repeated. She also sleeps with a lidocaine patch (not sure whether hers are stronger than the once you can now...

Rotator Cuff Repair Momweb starts recovery

Sue, I just wanted to hear how you were thinking doing! I forgot to check my thread and saw you hadn't posted in 2 weeks. I do that same alphabet - using 2-1/2 lbs now and he's making me right bigger. We also started doing the alphabet with me having a straight arm with fist pressed into a...

Rotator Cuff Repair Should I be concerned about my shoulder surgery?

So glad you're doing well! It's always interesting to see the different protocols of different surgeons - whether for rotator cuff repair or hip replacement, etc. I'm glad your pain level is good! The day after surgery was the worst for me but it got better quickly. I had the huge sling - it...

Rotator Cuff Repair Momweb starts recovery

Happy Wednesday, Sue! I hadn't seen anything from you in the last couple of weeks, so I wanted to check in and see how you're doing! Did you decide on going back to the gym? I've decided to put my regular gym on hold for now and see how the infection rate changes from reopening of various...

Rotator Cuff Repair SaraK's At It Again!

My last 3 PT sessions have resembled early sessions with my trainer - pushups at table height, pull up rows, pull down rows, etc. We still do other things to increase range of motion and work on stability of the shoulder and strength of smaller muscles, but moving more towards strengthening the...

Reverse Shoulder Replacement Total reverse shoulder replacement

@Claud - I can't imagine going thru it on your own. I had rotator cuff repair and was originally expecting my son to only be with me for the first few days. Because of COVID, his school closed and he's been here the entire time. Even with practicing, I don't think you can really appreciate...

THR 3 years post OP left THR issues

I'm so glad to hear things are improving. From the surgeon's reaction to how you're doing, 2-3 weeks was definitely not the expected recovery time! 2-3 months maybe? Or maybe just different because of the amount of scar tissue? In any event, just keep focusing on the improvements, big and...

    THR Revision advice

My surgeon advised a cane for a few days because of the swelling but no limits on activities otherwise (he even approved the dancing that night). I asked about immobilization or restrictions like I'd read about and he said that it would be required for a full hip arthroscopic but he didn't...

    THR Revision advice

@CricketHip - it depended on what I did or had done. If I did absolutely nothing for several days, it might only be a 1 or 2. If I did anything, it ratcheted up to about a constant 4. If I rolled over in bed or did anything that activated the psoas - OMG - spiked to about an 8!

    THR Revision advice

@arroyo65 - I'd actually say that at 4% this is one of the more common complications and surgeons should be looking for it and investigating more promptly. I've read different things that suggest it is more common with today's implants. As the ball has gotten larger and the cup has gone from...

Rotator Cuff Repair SaraK's At It Again!

Sounds like things are going well so far @tazzy13 ! It does take time to adjust to how to do things - especially if it is your dominant arm. I had a pillow stand I could put on my tummy to hold the phone or tablet so that you could just use one to type. As I got a bit better, I was able to...

Rotator Cuff Repair SaraK's At It Again!

@Layla - it all depends on the risks involved! A little bit of potential pain from overdoing it (although I only seemed to be overdoing it most of the time) versus this nasty virus with an increased risk of complication? No comparison!
