TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Thank you pumpkin. I have a call in to the doc. I’d never heard of “tiger country.” I’ll try some ice back there.

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

TKR-R 7/21/20 Left done yesterday, 10/1. I’ve never felt such pain in my life. Spinal didn’t work, so had to go with general. taking 10 mg Norco 4x daily but it was so painful last night that I took an extra half tab with two doses. icing, elevating, and nothing is working. oddly, it looks...

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Thanks. I’ve been very cautious about overdoing it. It’s the height differential. I just have to stick with the mismatched shoes until my left knee comes Oct 13.

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Sorry admins, I couldn’t find my original thread. (Could you change my title to this?) At six-seven weeks I was in heaven. Healing, getting active, pain vastly diminished. I took a short trip and came home in agony. I tried to keep going with exercise and my own rehab and it was just awful...

    TKR Knee done, what's next?

No one checked my lift before I left hospital same day, but I sure didn’t have any. Used a long scarf around my foot to lift it for about 7 days and then some kind of magic happened. One day I could lift it with ease and minimal discomfort. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

    TKR JeremiahD's Knee Recovery

I used my CPM 3xdaily, two hours each time, for three weeks. I know the research says CPM isn’t that effective. I don’t know what it would have been like without it, But having read a lot of horror stories about people being unable to bend their knees, I was grateful to have it. By the end, I...

    TKR Positive TKR story

Congrats on your excellent outcome! I’m inspired, as I’m prehabbing for my next TKR in a month. I’ve been so crippled up that I was using crutches just to walk a short distance. My goal is to get back on a bike to hit the gorgeous trails around ATL. Good for you.

    TKR KMLknee's Second TKR Recovery

I hope it goes well with PT. I am having my left done Oct 13. I’ve ordered goniometer off Amazon($7) and I’m going to do my own PT. The real benefit comes from our own consistent efforts in between PT visits. Remember you’re in charge and have the right to say no to anything. Take care.

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Wow, thank you so much for sharing your experience. It means a lot to me. I canceled today’s appointment because I’m just beginning to feel normal again. I think I’ll cancel Friday too and see how I can do with a more gentle approach. It was SO discouraging to feel like I did before surgery...

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Seven weeks out from right TKR and I’m ecstatic with my new knee. Wound finally healed, home PT signed off and I transferred to regular PT at a clinic nearby. Following the excellent advice received here, I started by making him commit to no forcing. I had to say it twice and remind him...

    TKR Double trouble

I had right TKR July 21. I am 1-1/4” taller standing on my right leg than on my left. I hope the left TKR leaves be more balanced but meanwhile I’m wearing two different shoes because walking when my legs are such different lengths makes my hip joint hurt. My right knee especially was quite...

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Tomorrow will be four weeks since my right TKR. I am amazed by the lack of pain in the knee itself. Still pain in the leg but improving rapidly. I’ve been splitting my 10 mg norco into 5 mg pieces. Alternating with Tylenol 650 works pretty well with most days only needing 1 or 2 doses of norco...

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

I’m wondering about flying post-TKR. I can’t take NSAIDs. My flight is two hours nonstop and I’ll be right at six weeks out. Wondering if I should ask for the blood thinner I used post-surgery for prevention of clots? In other blood news, still nickel-sized bleeding in one spot under the...

    TKR Julie H August -5-2020

Congrats on your new knee. Yes, work in controlling the pain. AND resting, elevating, icing. Get that swelling down before you do much. I’m only three weeks out myself, but that’s made all the difference.

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Question: I had my staples out Tuesday, two weeks after replacement of the right knee. The incision was covered with Steri-Strips and, as the PA suggested, I added a regular bandage over that. There was initially a little bit of drainage and a few spots of blood, which I’m guessing came from...

TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

Heck if I know. It’s lunacy. My swelling didn’t start going down until I stopped everything but 60-degree CPM, regular walking, and ADL. It seems reckless and dangerous to me to tell people to push it that hard.

    Revision TKR Mamie's Recovery Thread

Mamie, I’ve read the last several pages of your posts and I’m with everyone else here: I hope you’ve gone to the ER. I’m so sorry this is such an ordeal and your support had been minimal, at best. Sending healing vibes your way and hoping for improvement.
