TKR How old were you when you got your tkr?

I was 59; 71 now. Quality of life HUGELY improved. If they failed now & I had to do it all again with 12 months recovery, still better off. IMO go for it - oh you did, well done

MUA Post MUA Question on Adhesions

Using a bike to gain ROM is pretty simple: Set the bike to zero resistance Set the saddle low enough so that a single rotation is a challenge; difficult but not painful. When a rotation becomes easy right from the start, lower the saddle a max of 1cm. Gently turn the pedals, through discomfort...

THR Return to my desk post surgery

I am astonished that HR are being supine. If, as suggested, you get medical backup I suspect they may change their minds - after all, they have to cover their arses too.

THR Return to my desk post surgery

I am not qualified in any way to give proper advice, this is just a quick reaction based on 40 years at work. I absolutely agree with 'don't sign'. If it's a big company like a bank get HR involved. If it's a small company you may have to go over her head to the boss if there's no HR. If...

    TKR Bicycle

Don't worry, as ROM improves you can use the bike. Get one at home if you can! If your leg is stiff and swollen then using an exercise bike for training is not a good idea; but you can still use one for mobility exercises - even if you can't make a single rotation! Set the bike to zero...

    Bilateral TKR Bilateral TKR Preop

Wow. My surgery was awhile ago now (2011) I wonder have things changed so much? I was more or less immobile for 24 hours, in hospital for 5 days, moving only slowly and carefully, with a walker, to and from the bathroom 6 feet away. They only let me go when I could, slowly and painfully...

    TKR Can’t get comfortable

All recoveries are different; your experience so far is IMO normal. Knee Recovery: The Guidelines We are all different, as are the approaches to recovery. TKR Recommended age to do TKR

Welcome to BoneSmart I was 59 when mine were done, 71 now and still perfect. Modern TKRs have a much longer life than 15 years - you'll want to check that for yourself of course. So you have a choice of waiting a decade or so in pain and increasing disability, or risk a 2nd TKR. Easy...

    TKR TKR - increasing ROM?

My schedule is a guideline; I'd say go to 3 minutes and stop. I say take the shorter time to discourage people from overdoing things. When you've got really good ROM and are raring to go. Err on the side of caution for, maybe, six months.

    TKR TKR - increasing ROM?

Me too, in the mid-90s. Mr Dr said I'd be back 'within 10 years' for TKR, but it lasted until 2011.

    TKR TKR - increasing ROM?

You will not get full range of motion if you have adhesions; where soft tissue has stuck together. MUA will break these adhesions by main force (hence the A part of MUA, it would be too painful otherwise). If you don't have them, and they are not common, ROM will continue to improve with...

PKR Newbie here! Questions about NuSurface meniscus replacement

The masters is in UK this year - there's no concept of 'qualifying' as far as I know  I had both my knees done awhile ago now Dec 2011 :) BILATERAL TKR Recovery Diary My knees work better now than before, many years before, the TKR. They are the strongest part of me for cycling...

TKR First Goal After Serious TKR Complication

No PT even touching it, IMO. Get them to show you the exercises, then do them to the point of discomfort, not pain Hope they weren't pushing you! Progress will I'm afraid be slow, your body will have adapted to reduced ROM. BUT you will get there.

    THR Bmi cutoff

Thanks for the update. No criticism was intended, rather the opposite with such profoundly good results.

    THR Bmi cutoff

I suspect that 'social media coincidences' and 'new journey' are modest reportage of extensive research on the new way of eating. Also, going from 'zero' exercise to walking several miles a day will have strong effects, too. I absolutely agree with Jamie; many very low carb diets (e.g. Atkins)...
