@Layla Does the phrase "Better Late than Never" apply to this? :heehee:
Thank you SO much! It has been quite eventful lately. The holidays were busy, then my daughter and I were sick with Covid. (We weren't too bad) Then....I just got back from a work trip and have been trying to adjust back to...
@Doglover7 Oh I know that now! I am about 4 months post surgery and just now feeling good enough to do the things I couldn't. (except now I am protecting my other hip) It's a personal thing and we have to listen to our bodies.
@Sdfoxy1 @Layla
It sounds like we have some similarities! So, back in March, when I was told that I needed I right hip replacement, the surgeon said that the left had maybe 2 or 3 years. When I went back for my 6 week follow up after surgery, he said it was bone on bone.
I had some pain on the...
@Layla Thank you! I can't believe it's been 3 months! On the other hand, it's just 3 months. LOL (Let me explain...) Looking back, I had no clue when I thought that I would feel better. (The answer to that is about week 8 or 9) However, now the right hip has become my "good" hip and the left has...
@Layla I didn't even realize that it has been 2 months!! Well here we are..LOL
I am so glad that I did it. It's like a new lease on life...except there is the left one to deal with. Honestly, I knew that I would need the other hip replaced, but was hoping a few years from now. More than likely...
@Ruth123 my glutes and realistically all the surrounding muscles are still weak from not being able to exercise prior to my hip replacement. (My THR was Aug 22nd) I start questioning everything when I have a pain and tend to worry or let it discourage me. I have an amazing physical therapist...
@Woodstockhip I'm literally icing it right now. The funny (or not that funny) thing is, it wasn't really bothering me until a day after I had my appointment. :chinstroke: I won't go as long as I did with the right. Its not worth it. I'll probably do it around this time next year. I'm still...
Well..I had my 6 week follow up this week. My right hip looks good. Then I was told that my left hip is bone on bone :nah: (I was told earlier in the year that I still had a few years) The Doc said that he would follow up with me in 6 months and we would see how am doing. I don't have any pain...
@Amy99 exactly! That is the hard part...being anxious to do all the things you couldn't before. I am trying to preserve my left hip as much as I can. Eventually it will have to be replaced. There is still cartilage and I have done 1 PRP injection. So, I have to be mindful of that....but we have...
@Amy99 I have felt the exact same way. I have osteoarthritis which is why I had my right hip replaced 5 weeks ago. Prior to that, I wasn't able to do much because I was bone on bone. My mind is so eager to get out in the world and make up for lost time. There have been nights when I was in tears...
@Layla I did it this morning! It absolutely does work. You do have to focus, but it does help. Today I have quite a bit of pain. (Mostly stabbing/shooting pain). I find that there is no comfortable place for me to sit in my apartment. The dining room table is my go to place for a while.
I find...
@HollyNY my bruising set in about 4 days after surgery and it went all the way to my ankle. It got worse over the next few days. My home health nurse that came out used kinesio tape on my leg and it cleared up in about 3 days! I am not sure how that works...but it did.
@Tuppence71 I had an allergic reaction to my pain meds. By day 3 I was not only itching, but my blood pressure was super low, I was sweating and felt faint, and I had migraine symptoms like the auras and squiggly lines in my vision. It was the Hydrocodone. I stopped taking it and went on Tylenol...
@ericson1998 :thankyou: I am finding that every day is different.(Or even each part of the day) I can be fine one day and the next in pain. It's definitely not as bad as it was prior to surgery, (its muscle pain now) but the limping throws everything else off. My other hip/leg is hurting the...
@Eman85 have you seen the "Slip in" Sketchers? You literally don't have to touch the shoe to get in them...just slip your foot in. I have a pair and the worked for a week or so when I had the walker, but the Sketchers are too cushiony if that makes sense. I forgot about elastic laces. I am going...
@danelady I wear croc slides (maybe not the safest) I'm the house. I have hard floors and there is no way I'm going barefoot. I haven't heard of Kiziks, but will look them up now. The HOKAS are the best thing I have coke across...but I have to tie them which is challenging. (unless someone is...
