ROM: it's worth the wait for it

A lot of us struggle with ROM during our recovery. Many doctor's tell us that there is a "window" for ROM and that you have to push the knee, work hard and feel the pain to get ROM. Many doctors say if you don't get the ROM early, then you will not be able to gain anymore bend. I too struggled...

    Snapping/Popping Around Kneecap

I had my TKR in June, 2010 and have had no pain or problems. About a week ago I noticed that something is snapping around my kneecap area when I bend and straighten it, but it doesn't happen when I walk. I notice it when I am going up the stairs (it makes a popping sound) and when I cycle. It...

Volleyball at 19 Months Post Op

I just wanted to give everyone an update. Last year at this time when I played volleyball, I played and my knee was fine, but I kept thinking about it. Today at 19 months post op, I walked on the court this morning and did not think about my knee once. I ran, jumped, and was on the floor with...

    Airport Pat-Down

Today we left for the vacation. I felt I was prepared for the security at the airport and told them BEFORE I went through security that I had a knee replacement. The security agent told me to go through the security screening machine and of course it went off. He then summoned over another...
