Revision TKR Partial Revision Failure

My revision knee can be anywhere from 1-2" larger than my non-operated knee....I was wondering if it is just my knee after a TKR/revision or the same for rest of you guys too? Five months tomorrow post revision. My bend can be anywhere from 110-120 (pushing it). Zero on the extension. Soreness at night when sleeping but very tolerable. I tend to bend my knee in a fetal position at times.

My revision knee still has minimal swelling, it has slowly gone down, and is still going down. Yes it has been 5 years since my revision. Have patience, the swelling will go down.
Put a pillow between your knees when you are on your side, it may help.
Your ROM is great, that too will increase. Slowly over time I am 130 to 135, last 5 degrees was almost 2 year out.

Your knee was pretty upset with your primary TKR, then had to go through a revision, it can take those soft tissues a quite awhile to settle down after all those surgeries.

How is your knee working for you with walking, stairs, and other activities you enjoy?

@Pumpkln, I do sleep with a pillow between my legs. Thanks.
Walking is fine, sometimes I limp a little. Stairs are better with the revision than the original TKR. I walk my dog several times a day, sometimes on uneven ground.....so I really have to be careful!
We just got a Sleep Number bed and I think that is really going to make a difference on my whole body. It takes the pressure points off the knee.

I took a Celebrex 200 mg last night instead of my regular 2 ES Tylenol and it really did help with the swelling and inflammation. I am not suppose to take it because I am on blood thinners but occasionally is OK. My knee swelling reduced by 1 inch overnight because of the Celebrex (I think). I did over do it last week by riding the stationary bike for 42 mins. That was a mistake but it felt good at the time! :good-bad::tada:

It is easy to overdo, we feel great, but our knees let us know too late.
You will get there, you are only half way through this year long+ recovery.

I am going back to Pilates this coming Tuesday, the 19th! I'm excited!!!:egypdance::dancy::spin::roseshwr:

Hi Cementless, I am back here after a hiatus as I had my knee replaced in 2013 and was okay for two years after that. Your thread caught my eye because I am now to the point of having continuous pain in the TKR which is worsening. After going back and forth to the surgeon who did the TKR with complaints of pain and him telling me the x-ray looks fine and sending me on my way with a bandaid, I went to another ortho group who is trying to get to the cause of why this is happening and this TKR specialist feels that I have loosened hardware due to RA (Rheumatoid arthritis). He has ordered a nuclear bone scan which I will be doing on Tuesday. I hope that all goes well with you, and will be following your thread to see how things go with you.

Isn't it great when you can get back to something you enjoyed before. I'm looking forward to returning to,Pilates at some point, not just yet though.

Question: I have developed varicose veins since my revision, esp. behind the knee and back of thigh (most likely where the tourniquet was). It is uncomfortable at times, esp. sitting at the computer. Have any of you had this happen. I have some also on my other leg (not as much... more like spider veins), no surgery on that one. Maybe I am just prone to them. I would be scared for any Dr. to treat them because it could cause an infection in my knee?

Sorry to bring this up again.....but none of you have varicose veins since your knee surgeries?:shrug:

I’m glad your revision is doing well. Have you talked to your doctor about the varicose vein problem?

I had varicose veins years ago but they settled down, and my knee surgery did not bother them.

I am 7 months post revision and I have some uncomfortable pressure in my thigh and tibia (assume from the long implants). I notice it mostly if I have been sitting for long periods of time or doing a lot of walking.

The pressure will go away with time. Suggest you get up and move around when you are sitting for long periods of time. With walking, stop and take breaks if possible.

@Pumpkln, thank you. I just got back from a 5 day holiday where we would drive 3-4 hrs. at a time. Also, a lot of walking and stair climbing. My knee definitely over did it! It feels better now that I am home and have more control over what I do. I still worry ever so often....does not feel lose or like an infection. Still have internal swelling. Bend is only 115. I do Pilate's once a week and my knee enjoys this exercise. Did a lot of sitting playing the slot machines at the Golden Nugget in LA (lost but had fun!).

A lot of stairs at The Old Capital in Baton Rouge in LA.
