i might have something up with knee and was reading this person on here that went through same in 2015, wondering if you are still online at this site??

I had blood work this week and now having bone scan on Feb 1, then will get results on Feb 15. Very nervous. I had no issues until a few months ago.

Had 2nd knee done in 2015 and for the last few months getting pain intermittently and some days couldn't step on it at all off and on. So wondering how this is going to go.

I don't want a new knee and don't want to be on lifetime antibiotics either - ugh

Anyone else dealing with similar issue?

I am afraid rbrad9753 has not been on the forum since June 2015. If you go to the knee recovery area and look for the read Knee Infection title in front of the thread title. Click on that red title and you will get a list of all the threads posted by our members with knee infections.

I will also change your thread title so that you can get input from our members.

Can you please put your surgery dates in your signature? This information helps us if we need to advise you. Here's a thread that on how to create a signature. Give a shout if you need help!

I’m sorry you are going thru all this.
I have been dealing with this for a while.
There is not much of anything you can do now. You will deal with it , if it is infection, and many people here will give you good advice.
Post after your results the 15th.
If you do have a problem taking antibodies the rest of your life is not that bad. I do it, sometimes I run out and forget several weeks, you get used to it and it is better than having that infection comeback.
You might just have a little battle with it so just wait and see. It’s not the worst thing that could happen, scary no doubt, but if your not running high delirious fevers you have a jump on beating it already.
The spacers and new knee Implant operations are a bummer but if you have to , you have to a d you will get over it in time. So good thing you and the Dr.’s are on top of it.
If you do have to get a revision do get second or third opinions and go to the best specialist who do that with the best referrals. People on this sight probably can recommend one close to you. I have one if your Close to L A.

Good wishes to you and see what’s up the 15th

well it was not in infection after all, but it is loosening of parts, soo i have to go for x-rays every 3 months to keep an eye on it, Dr said i will be able to wait until it worse before 2nd surgery. This is very scary to me as i am reading they have to go further down into shin and can also need bone graph done - i had this done only 2 years ago, i can't believe i will have to go thru this again, Dr said recovery is longer as well as surgery, increased blot clot risk to-heart attack! i don't know what to do? Pain is not bad right now and i will go as long as possible I heard some people limp after as well ugh very very nervous about this , more so then first time

I'm afraid that if your implant is loose you will have to have it replaced. As it is now, it isn't going to improve, but will probably get worse.
Do you have a copy of your X-Ray that you could post, for Josephine, our Nurse Director, to look at?

Your surgeon had to warn you about the possible risks, but they are unlikely to happen.

I had a revision and honestly my recovery was no harder than my original recovery.

It may be a good idea to get a second opinion about your knee, from a surgeon who is skilled in fixing problem knees.

I am in week 4 after a revision and actually think the recovery is easier. Maybe I got lucky

I also think the recovery was easier after the revision...might be because we have been through it all ready and know what to expect :)

I had a lot of surgeries in a short time. I don’t limp .
And my knee doesn’t hurt much anymore.
You might want to get a revision specialist or
At the least find out why that was loose and what was the implant maker.
You didn’t have a infection so that’s great.
