Hi just an update.Recovery Could not have been better so far everything on track and still have some physio sessions left. To anybody waiting for a replacement it's well worth it so hang in there it was life changing for me after a long year on crutches.
Do you have a support system, a family member that can be with you so your not staring at the ceiling with your thoughts running wild?
A close friend asked me if I was nervous and I told him the truth, I will go to sleep and then I will wake up with a new hip because that is the real truth. Try...
Yes you're right. Today I knew the time was right so I gave it a shot and after a slightly cautious and wobbly start (I was crutches for a year pre surgery with total hip failure) I was into a rhythm eventually and didn't push it too hard. Happy with the result.
Well done on hands free that's a...
Yes I have scaled the walking back and everything still OK without any recovery issues. I am using a cane with elbow support around the house and feel ready to venture outside with it. Google says it's OK to drop the crutches and advance to cane outdoors after 2-3 weeks and I'm coming up on 2...
When I left the hospital nobody mentioned when I should remove the very firmly glued on clear tape holding the incision shut. Is this something the doctor will do on my follow up post OP? It's been nearly 2 weeks
Yes they gave many recommendations but nothing about walking distances . I'm due to meet the Ortho doctor for a post surgery recovery discussion next week so probably best if I remain cautious until then I guess and pull back on long walks and bending too low
Hi everybody, 9 days post OP TLHR and things are going very well and pain free now walking long distance with one crutch
However I have a pair of comfortable shoe string above ankle boots (shoe horn won't work) but it worries me to get down there.
Is it to early to be attempting this?
Hi everyone was able to jump through all the hoops and checked out. To be honest it wouldn't have been a problem to stay longer I had a huge ensuite room to myself but I was sleep deprived.
Woken every 4 hours for blood pressure check, doctors rounds, food etc
Caught the tram home and have no...
Thanks for the words of comfort and advice guys.
It took an enama to do what 4 days of stool softeners didn't so went number 2 and about an hour ago was able to pee but the irony is I forgot to pee in the bottle and just peed in the bowl so I don't get to go home just yet as they want to see...
Thanks for the replies
Just spoke to one of the doctors and he explained getting my bowel open was first priority because it could be pressing on the uthera? Not sure it's the right term and that's stopping me from peeing.
They do not want to leave the catheter in too long due to risk of...
Recovery has been fantastic and the physio therapist has cleared me to leave but doctors say no because I can't pee without a catheter.
Anybody else struggled to pee and poop straight after surgery? . I'm on day 3 now
