Thank you for the reply.
I cannot recall any sudden twist or movement that may have caused the issue although that doesn't mean it didn't happen. The only thing that I started to do was sleeping on my side because that is so much more comfortable and I wonder, As you mentioned, that it may have...
Thanks for your message. Thought I was making good progress but had a bit of a backwards step the last few days. I haven't overdone exercise and the only thing that has changed is a reduction in my medication which has been gradual to ensure I don't get withdrawal symptoms.
I have no pain on...
Totally agree. I used the knowledge from the first operation to make me more relaxed about the procedure. When I had my first op and was back in bed I literally sat completely still all night scared to move so the next day when I got it off bed my knee was really painful and I was scared to put...
Thank you. As this is my second TKR I have to say I am more relaxed about my physio this time and not as regimented and hard on myself as last time. I am just remaining a bit more active with more gentle walking and when I move around just doing 'a few' stretches and bends.
When I say "using something to help with that" I don't mean medication I mean putting a dressing gown tie under the leg to take the strain of the lifting up of the leg. My physio did say that the strengthening was not the key thing at this time but to try the leg raises if I could buy mainly to...
Had my successful operation on 7 December so one week post surgery. Had my first physio appointment at the hospital on Wednesday this week and my flexibility with my second knee is better than at this point with my first knee. Bending and straightening seems to be coming on well but the strength...
I will be having my LTKR on 7 December. I had my RTKR on 10 November 2022. I was never really in 'pain' with my right knee but it kept giving way and the X-ray showed no cartilage and after a year although I still have a little stiffness it is absolutely brilliant. My surgeon said I would need...
I live in a 3 floor house with lounge and kitchen on the ground and bedroom at the very top so although I could get around going to the top by sleeping in the middle or even on a recliner sofa in the lounge it is still a consideration. I have had no issues going up and downstairs with this first...
Update - 12 weeks. Surgeon appointment went well. I had Xrays taken and he is happy with my progress and Xrays are showing a straight knee. I was worried as I had been ill and not able to do any physio all week that I would have gone backwards but all was fine.
I was unsure whether I was ready...
Yes I have tried that the operated leg does not bend enough so my other leg can touch the step which is my concern as coming down I will lead with the 'new' operated leg and the 'old' operated leg is not mobile enough. Hopefully it will improve before the next one.
Thank you. I saw my surgeon today and he has discharged me with the left knee now and so had the physio they are happy that my progress will continue naturally. We haven't booked a date for the 2nd operation yet and will play it by ear but looking to have it done at some point this year.
I am 12 weeks post op and I have the same thing. Some days it is worse than others but totally agree that a little bending and stretching makes it a little easier. This tourniquet feeling has definitely improved so hold on in there as I am of the same thoughts that it is 150% better than the...
Hi. 12 weeks today and I have to say progress is going well. I only have one concern. I have an appt with my surgeon tomorrow and we are discussing knee number 2 in March 2023. The concern is going up and down stairs following the second operation.
Going upstairs is not too bad but given when...
