Bilateral TKR On the other side...

I'm back for another quick update. I'm about 7 months out from surgery. I feel like I'm doing really well. My knees allow me to walk about as much as I'd like. We were taking a big family hike a few weeks ago on vacation and got lost. I have no idea how far we walked but we were gone for almost...

Bilateral TKR Got out of surgery at about 5pm 6/4/2013

Hey Gazelle, just found your thread after your nice comments in mine! I had a similar experience to your surgery. They got me in the room, told me they were going to give me a sedative to relax me, I came to about 3.5 hours later in the recovery room. Not sure how much more relaxed you can get...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

I had my BTKR on 1/25 and I was back by the end of March, 8 weeks to the day. My biggest problem at that point was actually fatigue not knee pain. I had a hard time getting thru the day without a decent nap. I'm 42 so I know that had everything to do with the surgery, it really takes a lot out...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

Decided to pop in again for an update. I'm generally doing pretty well. The knees are feeling good. I'm still taking it a little easy. I'm riding my bike every now and then without any pain or swelling. I have had a recurring problem for the last few weeks where I get a little swelling in my...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

Thanks for the encouragement. I do feel like I'm on a normal healing path at this point. I guess I'm a bit discouraged because I was well ahead of the curve for a while. I'm guessing I'm closer to how most people feel after 3+ months.

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

So I'm back to check in a little more than 3 months from surgery. I've found that everything has slowed down a bit. In the beginning I could measure progress day to day. Now it's harder to do that. I feel pretty good most days. I can definitely feel it if I overdo it a bit. I've taken a few...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

I agree on the healing and the pain I'm feeling is definitely telling me to slow down. I'd just like to ratchet it down as opposed to stopping everything. I've already quit the only thing that hurt while I did it, and I'll ratchet it down more if that doesn't help.

I agree on the standing from a chair. I spoke to my PT about it and we're going to back off. The exercise bike is really no stress at all. I don't feel like that's causing an issue, the stairmaster I will back off on to the point where it's not a strain. I really feel like the only thing that...

Bilateral TKR I Can't Believe It...I Did It!!!

Well done Pam. I'm 5 weeks out after bilateral TKRs. I'm doing well and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I agree with Roy. I knew I needed both knees fixed and I thought only going thru surgery / recovery once was the way to go. I really didn't even consider it the "braver" option as I...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

Some additional stuff after looking at my last update... I only used the cane for about a week. After a few days I didn't think I needed it anymore but I waited for my PT to agree with me. The walking is really much better now. It took me a few weeks to get the coordination down. After years...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

Sorry for going out of touch guys. I'm now a bit over 5 weeks out, surgery was 1/25. I feel like almost everything is going ahead of schedule. I pretty much walk fine. I'm sometimes a bit stiff, but that fades after a few paces. I do wear out a bit quicker than I'd like. I've been going...

I did get to watch the Super Bowl on a 24 inch flat screen. Not such a big deal I guess as I fell asleep during the blackout.

TKR Dewey Did It...#1 AND #2

I'm at about the same point you are and I'm cutting back on the narcotics. I do find that I do a better pt session if I'm using the drugs. That isn't as much a hard and fast rule the further I get away from the surgery. I definitely think that even if the PT didn't hurt, it fatigues my legs...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

The jail break was pretty rough. It was Saturday morning when I decided that I needed to get out. The warden didn't get back until Monday morning. At that point all the therapists agreed I was ok to go home. By the time all the I's were dotted and the T's crossed, it was Tuesday at noon. I also...

Bilateral TKR On the other side...

Hello again. I thought I'd give another update, I'm 2 weeks + 2 days post bilateral knee replacements. Here's a synopsis of what's been happening the last 2 weeks. The 2nd day post surgery I was able to walk across the hall. It didn't hurt much do to the pain meds. Getting up was definitely a...
