While I read posts here regularly, it has been so long since I posted. It's interesting to read about the experience of someone just starting this journey and compare it to mine. I didn't post very often because my recovery was and is pretty unremarkable - I had pain but not overwhelming, good...
When home health care removed my staples the lower portion of my incision was “gaping” enough that she took pictures and sent them to my surgeon before applying the steri strips. His nurse said it looked ok so she put a double layer on the questionable area. I felt just like you do: what if I...
@sondrals, I used the wheeled walker for more than two weeks because it felt so stable and secure. I think you should use whatever makes you comfortable. Sending you prayers for peace.
@luvcats, I started driving at four weeks after surgery - just around town. I was still taking one Norco before bed but felt very able to navigate safely. Independence is a great thing!
@Josephine, I’m a newbie who hasn’t been on the forum very long but this has been such a haven of common sense. I always feel like I’m reading the very best information when you show up on someone’s thread with your structured questions. Good luck with your surgery and we’ll all look forward to...
Today is 5 weeks post surgery for me and I measured 113 at PT this morning. I’m thrilled with my recovery but my PT (who I like) frowned and said “oh I wish this was 115 - that would be so much better.” Really? Two more degrees? I think it’s so easy to get caught up in numbers that we overlook...

I’m using the cane exclusively now and speed is not part of the deal at all. A nice added benefit is that when I walk around the neighborhood (a short block or two) other people give me a wide berth! Makes me feel much safer.
I just jumped here to read your recovery thread after you responded to my post. Wow, I am amazed at your surgeon’s protocol but it sounds like it really works. Glad you are doing so well.
@szrmom good to meet a surgical date buddy. I feel extremely blessed by how my recovery is going and keep trying to follow the BoneSmart way. How are you doing?
Thank you @Jockette and @Benay! I’ll just have to relax and see what happens. I’m trying to give up color as well so my head is kind of a jumble right now :umm:
I haven’t posted here for awhile because things are progressing pretty uneventfully. But this morning brought a new quandary: is anyone else losing lots of hair? The shower drain was covered after I washed my hair this morning and each product application gave me another handful! Is this a...
