THR 40 and had a THR

Me! This morning mine was so tight that I got myself worried and worked up. But a nice shower and getting ready for church loosened it up nicely. I had gone to sleep with the ice machine, and removed it during the night without getting up to walk around, so I think it was just being slow to wake up.

    Second time considering shoulder surgery

Right now it is the only side I can sleep on, so it wakes me up a couple times a night. The recliner helps. I have my first post-op on my LTHR tomorrow, so we’ll see what they have to say!

THR 40 and had a THR

Hi again. My husband is laughing at me because I was, in fact, 49 for the second hip. It was two weeks ago. I had anterior approach. However for my first hip six years ago it was lateral approach, and I did need the shower seat, because I just couldn’t balance enough on surgery leg to get...

    Second time considering shoulder surgery

Sorry I realize this got moved to shoulder replacement category, but the surgery is to remove a calcium deposit. When I had it done on left side the rotator cuff had to be repaired. When I say “six week recovery” I mean that is how long I might not be able to work. Four weeks because I am right...

THR 40 and had a THR

I had my first THR at 42. There is much more exhaustion, it's even greater for younger patients. Did you have anterior approach? Showering is hard first two weeks after regular approach. Please ice and elevate as much as you can and medicate to keep pain at 4 or less. Your strength will come...

    Second time considering shoulder surgery

Thank you. I think my guideline is half of this due to anterior approach. My doctor said to expect 1/2 the recovery time as my RTHR, and so far he has been spot on for my milestones. (Thanks to this site I have a record of them!:))

    Second time considering shoulder surgery

Hello, It has been about six years since I have been on here. I am not sure if my name still shows as homeschooling mom? I haven’t homeschooled in a few years now but I wanted to come back instead of starting a new account. Anyway, I digress! I am here because I am ten days post op on a Left THR...

    THR HomeschoolingMom's thread

Hi All, thank you for the information and support on this board. Eight and a half weeks post surgery, I can truly say I'm better for having done it. Found myself going up the stairs with no hands today and at the top had the thought that it felt almost normal. Doing all normal family/ house...

    THR HomeschoolingMom's thread

Uuuum, no, but I wore shoes that had been fairly new prior to the surgery. $2000 in bills came last week, hindering shopping efforts. In any case, I'm happy to report that calf pain is gone. I am also pleasantly surprised by a sudden improvement in the hip pain. At three weeks post op, I...

    THR Newbie what is normal

A601, I noticed you didn't get replies yet, but I'm almost certain Jo and Jaycee will tell you don't do a lift, especially on the word of a PT. it takes a long time for the body to settle and to know if there is truly a leg length difference. On another note, glad to hear you got the OK for...

THR Zorro’s RTHR hospital experience. A LONG REPORT

Sharon, thanks. It felt pretty good! However, as Carol mentions, you can pretty much see where I began to have to concentrate on not limping. :wink1: Still, this weekend I started walking hills. I had plenty of breath and felt strong in the hip ... Did not consider that my calves have not...

    THR HomeschoolingMom's thread

You were right, very useful! I had PT today and she said if I work that particular stretch ( knee up, hands on either side to tie ) I risk groin injury... But I like how stretches are shown here and described using incremental force. I am trying to remember that even when I was in marathon...
