Hi I am due to have a complex left hip replacement sometime in the next month. I'm just waiting for my admission letter.
I have been told I will be having done under general anaesthetic and I am feeling scared about not waking up from it. I have had general anaesthetic before but always scared that I am not going to wake and this time I have been told it might be a long operation 3-4 hours long
Also my surgeon has told me that there is a 2% chance of death so this has also scared me.
I have been for pre op tests and am overweight but they have not told me to lose weight
Any reassurances would be helpful
Thank you
Lindsey
