Emailed with Liz a couple times. She is doing well. Having trouble with keeping food down and the zofran, nausea meds, are not working. Assuming she is on morphine once that is cut it gets a little better in my experience.

She said her pain was under control. She seems like she is really doing well. Even has her own private room!

SInce she is dizzy she hasn't been able to get on bonesmart but she said she will try and get on tomorrow night

Hi everyone and thank you Christine letting the other bonesmarties know I made it to the other side.

Except for the nausea and only being able to drink water and ginger ale, I'm doing ok. I didn't get out of bed yet, but will today. Blood Pressure is on the low side, last BP check it was 97/58. They gave my some oxy an hour ago and the pain isn't too bad, but I'm sure that will change when they get me up.

Good news is there is very lttle swelling, very few restrictions so I don't have a wedge between the legs, and I can do heel slides, which helps with the stiffness.

My surgeon told me that he found that I have small bones, but the femoral head was larger than the cup and this is was caused the degeneration. He said I was born with this and I think he called it displasia (?). Unfortunately I have the same condition in my right hip, but hopefully I won't need it replaced for awhile.

I slept 2 hrs last night and was woken up by the IV alarm. But once that was taken care and my vitals taken,I then slept for 4 hrs until they woke me to take my vitals and draw blood and give me the oxy.
Going to try and take a nap now, so I'll update later how getting out of bed went.

Thanks again for all the support!

    Liz

Finally, I got out of bed. First time I only managed about 30 ft but this afternoon I made it down the hall and back - yahoo!

Pain and nausea meds are all straightened out. They have me on Lyrica, dilaudid, oxy, celebrex and zofran. This is in addition to coumaden, iron, Vit C, Vit D and colace. Saw my surgeon today and since I had dysplasia and the socket was small and shallow, he had to use a smaller head and said I'll have to follow the 90 degree restriction rules for a full 6 weeks (If he had been able to use a larger head, I wouldn't have the restrictions).

The hospital staff is wonderful and are on top of things. All the rooms here are private and the flat screen TV is larger than the one I have at home. The food is pretty good too, now that I was able to finally eat.

I'm very thankful that everything is going ok now. I'll be released on Saturday, so this weekend I'll try do a formal write up of my experience thus far and post it.

Please forgive any grammer errors and mis-spellings. I'm using my blackberry and spell check is not working.

Thanks everyone for the congratulations and well wishes!

    Liz
