Navigating the forum starts at the top of the page with the blue and grey bars known as the Nav Bars (navigation bars). They contain short cuts to all areas of the forum and save you having to go to the forum Home Page to find different areas.

The blue bar (1) takes you to various sections of our website www.bonesmart.org. Here you will find additional content from our sponsors to illustrate various aspects of joint replacements. Also the Find a Clinic and the main link from the website back to the forum.

The grey bar contains links to sections of the forum including the Memberlist and New Posts. (2)

Very often, the first thing members want to do is to see whose been posting today. This is easily accessed by clicking on New Posts in the grey Nav Bar.

This is a search feature that present you with a list of threads containing posts you haven't read yet.

You can tell which threads you have posted in before as a miniature of your avatar will be overlayed on the avatar of the person who created the thread

In addition there is all sorts of information to be gleaned from this display of thread titles including
    - who created the thread and when
    - how many hits the thread has had (meaning how many had viewed it)
    - how many posts
    - who made the last post and when

In the recovery forums, you will also notice that most of the threads have coloured prefixes which say what surgery the poster has had. This should make it easier for people who are wanting to connect with others who have had, for instance, a bilateral replacement or revision. YOu can also do a search of other threads with the same prefix by clicking on the tab.

And if you get to a point where you want to clear the decks and start again, at the bottom of every page is a link Mark All Forums Read

Alternatively, you can go to the HOME PAGE of the forum where all forums will be displayed like so.

    8-vert.jpg

You can see in there the various categories such as "Knee Replacement" and "Hip Replacement" and within each of those are more titles, "Knee Replacement Pre-Op Area" or "Knee Replacement Recovery Area".

You can also see other places such as "Help and Information" and "Social/Community".

At the very top of the page is a bar with manufacturer's names - these are our sponsors whose generosity helps keep this site running. But you can get rid of this bar by clicking on the close button
