Hi all, I haven't been on in quite a while. Just noticed today it has been a year since my first TKR. Wow, time flys. Didn't seem that way a couple of weeks after the surgery.
Just like most have said many times, there have been ups and downs. I still have stiff days ( usually after very harsh use). I still use my pain meds when I know I have tough work to do. My second TKR anniversary is a month away and that knee is still very much behind the first. I expect it will eventually catch up and all issues will diminish with time. I would do it again in a heartbeat. At least they are improving instead of getting worse like before the TKRs. All of you recovering, hang in there.......TIME is the real healer......and those with TKR's coming up.........read, read, read. This site and the people on it will give you the knowledge, comfort and support to help you sail thru your TKR. It is priceless. Hope to see you all reach your anniversaries with completely healed knees. Take Care, Bill :thumb:

I too still get stiff if I stand in one place too long and I am right @ 2 years. I went to my local Sam's Club shopping w/my wife and then to my Harley Davidson Dealer's and stood around a couple hours visting w/folks and the front and rear of the TKR got stiff.
I wonder if it will get any better?

That seems to be the hardest on it to do, just standing there..

Rode the exercise bike 5 miles or 20 minutes @14-16 mph today..

I'm thinking weight loss may be key in this recovery, I hope.

Lionsm13, I have your same concerns that this may be the best I get. However, I also agree with you on the weight issue. That is my goal now. To lose a considerable amount of weight and see if that improves my knees. Losing weight now is just so much more difficult than when I was younger.

Congratulations Bill on your one year TKR birthday! Thank you for an uplifting and positive report! It gives us all hope and certainly shows us that the present no matter what stage we are in is better than the past with bad painful knees!

Much more difficult now, agreed. It has to be done..
I do hate the idea of this "being the best as it's going to be" though
as it's certainly not the 99% or even close to what the OS said that it would be.. Go figure..

I don't know which one is worse now, my 2 year old TKR or my other "good, not so good" knee that probably needs a TKR too.
More bone on bone and being over weight is not helping it either.

Just can't force myself to go through w/it considering the shape/condition of the TKR..

Time does fly doesn't it. I think the first year is ruff and mostly because of going thru the operation. Glad you are doing so well. I helps those that are just starting to know that there is a tomarrow of getting on with life. and one without the use of pain pills every day or every few hours. I'm coming up on my two years of knee and you are right, you have ups and downs but the pain is so less than before. Thank you for droping by and saying "Hi" and I hope you have a very good day. :doggieshmooze:Tashia:cheers_wine:

                              Hi Recycled
I wanted to say that I appreciated reading through your posts and about the preop considerations you mentioned. Also your process in choosing a surgeon and in just reading about your journey through two TKR's.

I've been worried about some of the same things so it's good to see you celebrated your first year anniversary and I'll take your advice here to read, read and read!

It's good to hear that you would do it all again. Gives me hope!
                              Thanks!
