    PKR LPRK May 9, 2012

So sorry you are in such pain. I wish I had a solution for you. If it were me, I would be on the line to my doctor for immediate help for the stomach, the knee, or both! Hope you get some relief soon! Kay TRKR 6/4/12

    TKR NSAID Allergy and Inflamation

I went into my RTKR knowing that I would not be able to take any anti-inflamatory medications post-surgery due to a severe allergy to NSAIDS, aspirin, etc. I'm now 6 weeks post-op and continue to have significant swelling and pain, not only in my knee, but also in the knee and back on the same...

TKR Op June 2nd, meds and nausea

My leg, also, was much delayed - did not want to move when my brain directed it to. Then one day I was lying on the bed, mentally directing my leg to move when it suddenly did. And once it got started I thought it would not start. I raised it so high I thought it would disconnect from my hip. I...

    TKR 4 weeks since surgery

PT Update: Saw the 3rd different PT yesterday. The difference was night and day. There was no man-handling (or woman-handling either). She gently assessed my progress, told me I was doing well overall and that I needed to work on just a few different things. I continue to have quad muscle...

    TKR 4 weeks since surgery

Its now 5 weeks since surgery. I am sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Tomorrow I am trying a third PT. If this one can't work with me where I am and treat me gently, I give up. It is so helpful to hear other people tell how hard they are working, how exhausted they feel and perhaps how...

    TKR 2nd July 2012, I've arrived !

I remember "stupid o'clock" - I found it really hard to sleep in the hospital. Also, I felt trapped by the bed as I couldn't get comfortable on my back and lying on my side was painful. When the PT comes you'll have a chance to move around a bit. And before you know, it will be time to go home.

    TKR 4 weeks since surgery

Well, I did it. I went to my first PT Group today. Had a different PT - one with better skills - and so the group was tolerable. There was only one other person - also new to group PT. Every time the PT started to grab onto my leg/knee I reminded him that he was NOT to bend my knee, but allow me...

If I had been there I would have been cheering and waving my pom-poms. Good for you! Way to show the docs that patients really do know a thing or two about their own recovery.

    TKR 4 weeks since surgery

Thank you so much - all of you - for your words of support and encouragement. I was so fortunate to have home PT for 3 weeks after surgery - two wonderfully supportive women who gave me such confidence and encouraged me to try new things - like walk with a cane. It was such a blow to go to...

    TKR 4 weeks since surgery

Thanks so much for these references. Despite my extensive research prior to surgery, I did not have this information. It is so helpful! I should know to listen to other patients! I will keep referring to these articles as reminders that I really am doing fine and making progress in my recovery...

    TKR 4 weeks since surgery

I'm glad to find this forum. I'm 4 weeks post RTKR. I think I am doing well. Had PT at home for 3 weeks and made good progress. Went to my first outpatient PT appointment last week and was basically told I was doing everything wrong, that I needed to not use my cane and continue with the walker...
