Yesterday it was beautiful here. I had a friend drive me to a state park and I took a good walk. lots of benches for rest along the way and stayed near the road so that the car could rescue me if out of steam. Good plan - I called for the car.
I am feeling pain in my elbows, wrists and hands...
Thanks Josephine.
I took it easy again today - just re-read your articles. Rest is best.
Looking forward to taking a nice walk on Sunday, no plans for tomorrow - whatever my body wants to do will be done.
For the last 2 days I have had zero energy. Barely got out of the chair yesterday. Did the minimal exercises. I hope I haven't hit a wall. I don't feel depressed, just out of steam.:cry::cry:
Re: 3 Weeks Today!
Ah those extra jobs that make recovery all the more difficult. Your water heater doesn't care that you have a new hip to take care of. I hope you have someone else there to mop up the mess.
Rest is the best.
Rusty,
Congratulations! I sounds like you are making a fabulous recovery. 15 minute walking sessions. Nice! I was scared to stand up the first time after surgery on day 2. I was thrilled that I didn't collapse on the floor and that there was no pain. I still don't believe it after all those...
I had ice constantly in hospital and rehab facility - but I did need to ask for refills when it melted. I mentioned the extreme swelling of my rt. leg to my surgeon during a visit one week out. He asked how often my leg is elevated. Answer = never. Started elevating as soon as I got back to...
Caza,
Glad you are here and doing well. Nighttime sleep was difficult for me when I got home. While in hospital and rehab the adjustable bed made that much easier. I ended up purchasing a wedge pillow which gave my upper body various levels of elevation based on how close the bottom of the...
I am in your corner. The deep dark night of the soul is the hardest, when your pain, doubt and fear seem overpowering. Lean on the good people of this forum - we will support you with prayers, encouragement and friendship.
Re: THR scheduled 8 June, new to this forum
Deb,
Welcome. We are the same age. I am 4 weeks out of surgery and so happy with both hip replacements that if I was allowed I would do a canon ball in the pool! Not yet - that would violate a few restrictions.
With your rowing you will have great...
Hi Amy,
Do not second guess yourself on your decision regarding when to get the replacement. I was told to wait until I could no longer take the pain because of my age and the ballpark 25 year lifetime of the replacements. What made my decision for me was the fact that I was taking vicodin like...
Hi Smudge,
You are a strong woman! I am having a hard time with limited weight bearing on my right leg after bilteral hip surgery. I feel good, but over and over again I am told I am in the danger zone. The danger is ignoring the limitation and risking further injury to the femur. I keep...
Re: New member needing some support
Lynn,
My thoughts are with you on this journey that none of us ever volunteer for. Talk to MGH doctors as Z suggested. It is not uncommon for doctors to collaborate on patients that are in their care with a colleague that is within your commuting limit...
Diane -
Sounds like you are doing great. Keep up the good work. A beautiful day her - crowding 60 right now. I still need to use my walker - but I go outside a just breath in fresh air. It feels great to feel the wind on my face.
JD,
Keep up the good decisions and choices. I work in IT as well and had high hopes of returning to work quickly. No can do. I have several energy lows during the day that require rest. The hard thing is not to feel like a slacker who taking this medical leave for all it is worth. As we all know...
Today is 4 weeks since my surgery! No more warafin, no more compression socks. I will be burning the socks tonight.
I also took that drive to the post office today. No problems just a bit clumsy getting the walker in the car after getting situated. Wearing the grabber around my neck was not...
Hi Deb,
Great to hear your progress. I am 4 weeks out today from my bilateral surgery, and am encouraged by your posts. I will keep my thread current and hope to continue my journey back to an active happy lifestyle.
